Yes true, but you are talking to the wrong guy.

Diplomatically it may have some uses, as a symbolic closer coming together of Pakistan and Iran, but other than the symbolism what is the real utility? Is there any real policies which will be formulated after such a meeting?

Identifying the MAIN PROBLEM is 70% of the challenge. Then strategic policies must be formulated to pursue the policy.

Zardari as stated on this blog many times has no real power in Pakistan. He is a nominal head of state brought into power in rigged elections in 2008 by the ISI, after the Pakistan military murdered his wife, the much hated Benazir Bhutto in 2007.

SECURITY and FOREIGN policy is run by the Pakistan military which itself is a client if the JEWSA. The JEWSA officially pays $2.7 billion to the Pakistan military to follow its orders, though unofficially the security aid by the JEWSA in Pakistan may be high as $4--5 billion annually (second or even equal to Israel).

To circumvent such dominant American power in Pakistan, Iran needs to connect with other credible political figures such as Imran Khan PTI, and Nazaw Sharif PML (N) seriously as it is more likely they share Iran's sentiments about America more earnestly than Zardari.

Zardari is a billionaire crook who has done prison time for corruption and is widely perceived by most Pakistanis to be a lying, amoral criminal or Mr. 10%. He will smile and nod in agreement with the Supreme Leader because he thinks maybe he can make some money, but just as easily change his tune when he returns to Islamabad and his presidential Palace which is right next door to the American embassy. However it is acknowledged that he did attend the security summit in Tehran recently, despite American pressure, AND his administration finally after almost 20 years has seen through the pipeline project from Iran to Pakistan, despite again American pressure.

I do not deny that common bonds of race.... (where 30--40% of Pakistanis may have Iranian genes...that's 57--77 million of them out of a population of 190 million; there may be more "Iranians" in Pakistan than in Iran itself).....religion, culture, history, economic interests, neighborhood strategic interests can push even a corrupt regime to follow the natural FLOW of COMMON regional interests.

However to gain more tangible results, the Iranian regime should open back channels COVERTLY with Imran Khan's PTI party and Nawaz Sharif's PML (N)......So that they come to power in the next elections. I would even suggest funneling of funds through various sources to help them win ($1--4 billion). This is what I suggested with India's policy with Pakistan. But such a course must be done carefully lest they are tainted as Iran's puppets. The JEWSA however presently focuses on the Pakistan military with huge billion $ aid OPENLY. Based on such a principle so should Iran with Pakistan's true national leaders........Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif.

Iran can buy Pakistan towards its way of thinking in short order. 10 year long frustrating negotiations will no longer be required to move mountains in the country. The JEWSA will counter this with more aid for Pakistan, and greater Saudi involvement, But sometimes bonds of kith and kin feelings will ultimately outweigh mere monetary appeal.

US is real enemy of Pakistan: Leader

Presstv.com

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the United States is the real enemy of the national unity of Pakistan.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Tehran on Saturday.

The Leader stated that the West, and particularly the United States, is the main adversary of the Pakistani people.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the religious and cultural affinities shared by Iran and Pakistan and lauded the Pakistani people's long history of resistance.

The Leader also expressed hope that God would help the Pakistani nation rid themselves of their enemies as soon as possible.

The Pakistani president called for the expansion of relations between Tehran and Islamabad.

Earlier in the day, Zardari held a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, where the two called for the strengthening of bilateral ties in all spheres, especially in the economic and energy sectors.

Zardari also proposed that financial transactions between Iran and Pakistan be conducted in the two countries' currencies rather than the US dollar, saying this would help decrease smuggling and improve trade ties.
