The Pakistan military use their American equipment to wage war against peaceful India, in undeclared wars in 1965, 1971 and 1999.
The Pakistani military use their American equipment against peaceful law abiding civilians within Pakistan.
The Pakistani military backs the Taliban as part of their "strategic depth" policy, which destabilizes Afghanistan further and kills American servicemen, within the "fog of war".
The Pakistan military has trained up to 500,000 Jihadis as a proxy force since the 1970's to enforce its will both within Pakistan and without.........killing Shia Pakistanis, Sufi Pakistanis, Christian Pakistanis, secular Pakistanis, Pakistani intellectuals and journalists, Ahmedis and many others.
Pakistan according to some sources is terrorist hub number one.
Pakistan according to American sources harbored Osama Bin Laden in its military base in Abbottabad until this year, whilst the USA was busy scouring the world for him.
Pakistan according to some sources hosts the Taliban Shura in Quetta.
Pakistan according to some sources hosts the Haqqani network.
Pakistan according to some sources hosts the Hekmatyar network.
Pakistan according to some sources hosts 'al-Qaeda".
Given such a long list of woes against the actions of the Pakistan military, and its strategic arm the ISI, why does the USA still provide $2.6 billion worth of arms each year on top of the billions of $ of arms that go missing when they transit the logistics from Karachi to Afghanistan, meant for the occupation forces there.
(Total US military aid closer to $4--5 billion annually for Pakistan, second after Israel, or representing about 40% of all equipment purchases annually by the Pakistan military. If the actual defense budget of Pakistan is about $30 billion measured by PPP, of the official economy of $361 billion. Actual GDP is closer to $480 billion, but maybe $120 billion operates as part of the black economy.
THE USA THEREFORE IS ARMING PAKISTAN BASED ON BOGUS REASONS, and with the wrong equipment, which maybe ultimately be directed against India, yet again.
No doubt Hilary will have a sleek smiley reasoning for this when she turns up in Delhi for the strategic dialogue later this month. Indian officials will have to marshal their intelligence resources on this matter and pointedly present the facts to her, and should expect clear reasoned serious answers.
I can't see any justification for this massive military aid in order to build up the Pakistani military machine by the USA, and we haven't even mentioned the Chinese here on this)
Is this a special LOVE thang goin on here?
Why doesn't the USA do the right thing and simply STOP all military aid to Pakistan, and instead strengthen the hand of the civilian government by earmarking all USAid to the elected government?
We might then get better results, as well as strengthening the rule of law with Democracy in Pakistan, which also incidentally pleases Karzai's government, and India, and the long suffering Pakistan people.
Poor policies which become less useful after a while, obviously have their own momentum but maybe the State Department can do a review and have a word with the Pentagon.

Report: US suspending millions in military aid for Pakistan
M & C newsThe United States is suspending about one-third of its aid to the Pakistan military to increase pressure on Islamabad on the fight against militants and the terrorist network, The New York Times reported late Saturday.
M110 203 mm SP artillery......Pakistan may have 300 of these. But not required for counter-insurgency warefare.
A total of 800 million dollars in aid and equipment could be either suspended or outright cancelled, according to three unnamed US officials quoted by the newspaper. Pakistan currently receives more than 2 billion dollars in military aid from the US every year.
Two AH-1S Cobra attack helicopters of the Pakistan Army Aviation Wing at AVN Base, Multan. For a Third World "Foot Force" military such equipment are luxuries that are not required given that vasts amount of money have to be spent on the spares, which can't be manufactured in "Basket weaving" Pakistan and its annual 1.6 ton steel production Industrial base capacity.
Relations with Pakistan have become increasingly tense after the secret US raid into Pakistan in May that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Pakistan has expelled 100 US military trainers and public sentiment against the US has grown.
At the same time, Washington has lost confidence in Pakistan's commitment to the counter-terrorism fight.
Tensions grew in recent days after the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, told reporters that he believed that Pakistan intelligence officials had directed the killing of a journalist who wrote about terrorist infiltration into the Pakistan army.
Part of the possible cutbacks stem from refusal by Pakistan to accept some equipment, and other aid has been held up by the expulsion of the trainers, the Times story said.
63 Fighting Falcons which are not required for counter-insurgency operations.
Another parcel of the aid that could be affected is the 300 million dollars the US pays Pakistan to underwrite the costs of deploying more than 100,000 soldiers along the border with Afghanistan, which is a hot bed of militant activity.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned last month in testimony before Congress that the US was not prepared to continue military aid 'at the pace we were providing it unless and until we see certain steps taken.'
