Pakistan now has a powerful independent Supreme Court, which does not cower in front of the military as it use to in the good old days.
Pakistan has a powerful independent media which is very focused on the REAL ISSUES which vexes the country into a failed state situation.
Pakistan's people are united and politically aware of all the big issues that affect the country.
Even Pakistans' children are aware of the big issues that affect the country.
In 1951 the population of Pakistan was 33 million with about 15% being urbanized, and an even smaller middle class. Today Pakistan has an unofficial population of 190 million and an urban population of about 36%. ....with 38 million Pakistanis belonging to the educated middle classes.
Such a state is harder to manage and fool than it would have been in the 1950's.
The second factor is that people in Pakistan have wised up to the relationship of the Pakistan military with the USA.......its covert and not so covert nature, and the consequent harm it does to Pakistani society.
Finally there is a level of desperation in Pakistan given the situation of the country which can't be explained away by mere propaganda......the critical desperation WILL force change in Pakistani society, hopefully peacefully and in elections soon this year.

Gilani, at least on this point is right, there IS no room for military rule in Pakistan, ever again.
The Pakistan military through the careful guidance of the British Raj created ISI since 1948 have been the main source of fundamental and dire strategic mistakes that have incrementally taken the great nation of Pakistan down the road of failure after failure..........to failed state number das (as of 2011).
The rent a crowd fundies who canvass for the Pakistan military are but puppets who are also in addition a major part of the problem in Pakistan.
Of course such supreme truths could have come from a better source than a PM whose shadow-in-purda boss conspired with a foreign entity to stay in power for ever, based on the corrupt largess of the USA, even despite the fact that 90% of Pakistanis hate Zardari no end for obvious reasons. How does one justify staying in power through malicious devious means when the masses do not want them?

Some 30,000 Islamist demonstrators from the Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) took to the streets of Lahore today, expressing solidarity with the Pakistani military at a time when military and civilian government seem increasingly at odds.
The rally was seen chiefly as an expression of support for the military after the US attack on a pair of military bases on November 26, with clerics also bringing up the “coup memo” from the Zardari government seeking to oust much of the military’s leadership and replace them with more pro-US officials.
Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani has attempted to shrug off rumors of a coup, dismissing both the allegations against Zardari and growing speculation that the military may move to oust him, saying there is “no room for a martial law in Pakistan.”
Pakistan’s military has a long history of coups, and while Gen. Parvez Kayani, the current military chief, has shown a rare level of opposition to military intervention in politics the growing split seems liable to provoke a reaction, if not from him, then from another top military official.

He is an utter failure as President.
Two years of more disasters from him is highly undesirable for Pakistan. How much more can the country endure?
Zardari is crap. He should retire, prance the world and enjoy his looted $4 billion from Pakistan in the casino's of the West and Las Vegas with his various gora friends.
But Zardari bhen did the country a BIG favor in highlighting the impossibility of civilian governments working with the Pakistan military......co-existence with the Pakistan military is neigh on impossible. So the Pakistan military has to be dealt with decisively by the next government.
Zardari in writing the "Memo" also highlighted the importance, influence and role of the Pentagon in running Pakistan. Zardari knows this fact.
Zardari should retire soon from power and make the wise choice of enjoying his loot money. My guess is 90% of Pakistanis hate him, despite the red carpet treatment mete out to him by Western governments.

Insists 'No Evidence' Zardari Was Involved in Attempt to Move Against Military

Faced with a massive political scandal surrounding his reported involvement in the “coup memo,” Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari got “help” from an unlikely, and likely unwelcome source, the Pentagon.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby insisted that the moves against Zardari over the memo were unfair because there was no “credible evidence” that Zardari had been personally involved in sending the memo to Admiral Michael Mullen.
The memo, which was addressed as from Zardari, urged Mullen to use the US military to help him attack members of the Pakistani military’s leadership and promised to replace them with new leaders who were more friendly to US military interests.
The memo was delivered by a private Pakistani-American citizen, who said it was dictator to him by Ambassador Husain Haqqani. Haqqani has been recalled by Pakistan’s parliament to explain his involvement, and has offered to resign.
Key opposition leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq rejected claims from the ruling party that the memo is a conspiracy against Zardari, saying that it is real and needs to be investigated at the highest levels.

I take it that the rumors of Sharif (PML (N) being on the American payroll is true, which explains his total silence ( save a few comfy safe GEO interviews) whilst the country goes down the sewage hole. This means he should not become the next President because he will be repeating the same mistakes as Zardari bhen, but in a slightly less obvious open ended way.
Has Sharif been promised the Presidency in 2013, if he keeps quiet by the USA?
Zardari bhen is an easy political leader to protest against, simply because the man has so many faults in a bad Bollywood goonda way.....any idiot should be able pick on these, and exploit it to their political advantage. Unless they are on the American payroll, and maintaining the present status quo for Amerikkajee is of the utmost importance.
Any good honest political leader should be able to rock the boat, and shout like Sheikh Mujib about the massive corruption; lack of governance; lack of government; lack of security; endless wars for the USA; lack of adequate food; lack of adequate education WITH REAL CONVICTION AND PASSION..........thats should theoretically be the easy part.
The hard part is efficient governance once you come to power. Populist leaders promise the earth in South Asia, but once they come to power, they fail. They fail themselves and they fail the country.
Imran Khan the former cricketer, playboy and now politician who married a Jewish lady who just happened to be related to the infamous Rothschilds family, now has two Jewish sons through his marriage to Jemima Goldsmith. This is not an uncommon habit of many an elite Pakistani who are not emotionally attached to their country. He is educated at Oxford and has been reared in the elite Glitterati Beautiful circle of the UK......where he lived extensively, and is touted by and interviewed by the Jewish Western media. I am not sure beyond the usual Rahul Gandhi photo ops, Imran Khan understands the real meaning of struggle for himself, his party and of course his country.
But then again having Jewish links is not an automatic disqualification. Gadaffi of Libya is Jewish on his mothers side, but he is also a good leader for his people where under his able 42 year leadership Libya became known as the Switzerland of Africa.
In the present dire circumstances Pakistan is in, Imran Khan though given his background and connections seems a very unlikely but welcome leader for Pakistan in 2013, or sooner.
He though needs to ditch his school boy naivety about the Security apparatus of Pakistan, and especially of-course the Pakistan Punjabi military. He needs to do extensive "homework" on the security apparatus of Pakistan, and their linkage with the Western nations. Their games and tricks, paranoia and psychology (they in their tightly knit club live in a planet of their own........a truly weird sociopathic bunch) It is this covert unaccountable link that ultimately harms Pakistan into a failed state for so many years, even though the country is abundant in human talent and potential.
After all 30-40% of Pakistanis are Aryan. They deserve better. South Asia deserves better from Pakistan. Iran deserves better from Pakistan. Afghanistan deserves better from Pakistan. China deserves better from Pakistan.

The 58-year-old Oxford alumnus has used anti-Americanism to perfection in a country where most people see politicians as US puppets who facilitate the deadly drone attacks. Not surprisingly , for his tough talk against the US, Khan's popularity is on the rise. The latest surveys rank him as the most popular Pakistani politician and the likely prime minister after the 2014 polls.
Khan described the war in Afghanistan as "most insane and immoral" and asked the government to pull out of it in an interview with The Guardian on Monday. He said the war was unwinnable because it involves more killings and, consequently, more radicalization. "The Soviets killed more than a million people in Afghanistan. They were fighting more at the end than the beginning. Clearly, a population of 15 million could take a million dead and still keep fighting."
While criticizing the drone attacks, Khan also regretted the lack of international acknowledgement of Pakistan's contribution to the war on terror. "CIA chief (Leon) Panetta says that the Pakistan government was either incompetent or complicit (in protecting Osama bin Laden). They're talking about a country in which 35,000 people have died during a war that had nothing to do with us." Khan said bin Laden's presence and killing in Pakistan was humiliating for the country.
"Wherever I went, I felt this anger in the people. It was humiliating because an American president announces it, not our president. And because it was the American military, not our military, which this country has given great sacrifices to nurture, that killed him."
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief stressed that US aid to his country's "puppet government" was destroying it. "We're using our army to kill our own people with American money." Khan predicted that Pakistan's people seem destined to suffer as much as they did during the British colonial rule in "an era of neocolonialism''.

In his 12th visit to China, Clueless Billionaire Chamar Chaudi Chamcha Crook Zardari Bhen is obviously good at serving the JEWSA, since the American embassy next door to his Presidential Palace in Islamabad advises him everyday what he has to do and say for the USA, BUT when it comes to articulating and GRASPING Pakistan's strategic interests viz a vi CHINA, Zardari the Crook fails, as obviously revealed by this interview.
China can't wet nurse Pakistan, and its strategic needs, but that patriotic Pakistanis beyond the State Security apparatus need to look out for what is best for Pakistan. Pakistan lives in a tough neighborhood, BUT the situation is made a billion times worse by the actions of the Pakistani security State since 1951....with the guidance of the USA/UK.

The JEWSA and Rothschilds UK have never been good for Pakistan, AND yet these are the two countries which the ruling elite put their greatest faith in.
Zardari is a puppet of the JEWSA, brought into power to implement the JEWSA policy with greater ease in Pakistan (destabilization of the country and psychological acceptance that the USA must invade Pakistan.......and there is nothing the Pakistan state can do about this given inevitable fact.) Pakistan is a Failed State whose levels of governance/government is very poor. The PPP economy is nearing $500 billion of which only $350 billion is registered as part of the official economy. Pakistan can theoretically have a budget of $150 billion annually with significant surplus funds for DEVELOPMENT in INDUSTRY/MANUFACTURING and INFRASTRUCTURE, ........BUT since Zardari the JEWSA puppet has other priorities, as with the Harijan Coolie Kuta Punjabi military (free military aid from the JEWSA....as long as it continues bashing its own people into infinity)......this great OPPORTUNITY of surplus national funds working with a sincere neighbor ally with the ability to deliver on strategic projects has never been fully utilized/realized.

Is it not better in the first place not to do ANY HARM to the best strategic ally of Pakistan for at least 40 years, rather than do the dirty for a few $ from gora sahib, and be exposed for it.
The long term solution to this, which has included attacks against Chinese workers working in strategic projects in Pakistan (biting the hand that feeds you as they say in English).......is:
1. Reign in Pakistan's vast security state, always looking for work...ANY WORK.
2. Make the ISI more accountable.
3. Investigate and reveal which government agencies were training and arming the terrorists in Sinkiang Province for the West, from Pakistan.
4. Reduce the number of Westerners in Pakistan, especially in sensitive areas such as the NWFP, Baluchistan and Gilgit/Baltitistan.
5. Lets have Chinese security based in Baluchistan, NWFP, places especially where China is carrying out strategic projects.
6. Conversely lets de-link Pakistan's security system from the West. If Pakistan has lost about $80 billion since 2001 economically by associating with Washington's GWoT, then from Pakistan's point of view it hasn't worked out too well...and counter measures and appraisal of the situation needs to be taken. Stock taking.
7. Pakistan is a failed state, and this implies that its institutions don't work, and thus are out of control. Can the budget of the military which unofficially consumes about 8% of the GDP be reduced, and the extra state resources which are freed directed towards civilian projects. CLEARLY the Pakistan military is not working for Pakistan's strategic interests, so why should they get a whopping 8 % share of the GDP..........what for? If they can't defend the sovereignty of the country; causes national humiliation and like a pagal kuta attacks Pakistan's best friend.
Absolutely stupid sending Shuja Pasha on a covert rescue mission to China after such a massive "strategic depth" blunder. The Sinkiang incident tells the Chinese that military run Pakistan is an insincere, unreliable ally.

Pakistan, China ties are unique: Hina Rabbani Khar

Foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, who is on a visit to Beijing, has said Pakistan and China enjoy a unique relationship and dialogue was an ongoing process between the two countries.
(Pakistan has a "unique" relationship with the USA first and foremost, which provides up to $4 billion worth of military aid annually unofficially, AND in addition has thousands of security personnel in Pakistan, telling the Pakistanis what to do, and training their personnel....with the largest embassy in Islamabad right next to the Presidential palace. Most of the top brass of the Pakistani security have been trained in the USA, and security cooperation is still very extensive, and greater than the security cooperation with China CLEARLY.....given how often America's great and good visit Pakistan.
For Pakistan to have greater relations with China, the countries relationship with the USA would have to be reduced to a minimum, OTHERWISE CONFLICT OF INTEREST ISSUES ARISE.....where on the one hand China helps Pakistan generously, but on the other hand due to Washington's policy of using Islamists to destabilize various nations through "Operation Cyclone" .......against Iran, Afghanistan (Soviet Union) Central Asia, and China....since the late 1970's as per Brzezinski's "Grand Chess Board"....conflict of interests arises.
Pakistan just can't go on and on relying on good will begging missions in Saudi Arabia, The Gulf, Iran, China and the USA. It must choose sides.
My view is that Pakistan is better off relying 100% on China, and ditching the USA totally, AND improving relations with India in addition. Sooner the better.

Khar arrived late Tuesday evening on a two-day visit at the invitation of her Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
She said president Asif Ali Zardari was carrying forward the ties to new heights by frequently visiting China, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also paid several visits, she added.
She pointed out that Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Pakistan in December last year was historic as it helped in further enhancing the bilateral relations.
The foreign minister said the visit of Premier Wen played an important role in further deepening the the strong relationship.
Khar said: "The relationship strongly exists among peoples and governments of two countries and now we want to commensurate these ties with trade, economic and investment cooperation."
The foreign minister said China is one of the countries with which Pakistan has signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
She said the existing strong bonds of friendship between Pakistan and China was multi-faceted and covered all areas including defence, economic and trade ties.
"We have strategic and robust relations with China," she said.
At the Beijing Capital International Airport, Khar was received by Ambassador Masood Khan, senior diplomats from Pakistan Embassy and officials from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, talking to APP, Ambassador Masood Khan said that "this is a very important visit coming at a time when Pakistan and China enjoy enviable solidarity in all areas".
Khan pointed out that "the foreign minister's visit will help us consolidate our strong ties and steer them towards even deeper strategic and political engagement and more productive economic cooperation".
"It will be a meeting between time-tested and trusted friends and partners," Khan said, adding: "Naturally, regional and international situation will be reviewed by the two sides."
Symbolically too, Khan said, the visit is important because this will be Khar's first visit to China after assuming office.

Restoration of military aid: United States offers quid pro quo

The United States has offered to restore $800 million in military aid to Pakistan if it reverses its decision of expelling US military trainers in the aftermath of the May 2 Abbottabad raid that had killed al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
The offer came from an influential US Democrat, Senator Carl Levin, at a meeting with Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, a Pakistani official familiar with the development told The Express Tribune.
Leading a delegation of US congressmen, Senator Levin – who is the chairman of Senate’s Arms Services Committee – also held separate meetings with President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said Gen Kayani refused to review the decision anytime soon.
Pakistan Army expelled close to 100 US military trainers from the country in June in a show of displeasure over the Bin Laden raid. The Pakistani move, the US said, compelled it to withhold $800 million in military assistance.
At a meeting with the US delegation, President Zardari voiced concern over reports of the proposed cut in assistance for Pakistan. “Any cut in assistance would impact our existing economic conditions,” said an official statement quoting the president as telling the visiting US senators.
Zardari said the move would also send negative signals to the public about the US commitment to the people of Pakistan “when they are suffering heavily in economic terms due to unparalleled toll of the war against terror.”
The president hoped that all such steps would be avoided, the statement added.
President Zardari said drag on our relations due to operational irritants can effectively be avoided if the terms of engagements were clearly defined and followed in their true essence by the two countries.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Gilani, Senator Levin underlined the importance of bringing back US-Pakistan relations on even keel because both the countries are fighting the common enemy who is ‘using violence as IEDs.’

According to an official handout, Premier Gilani expressed reservations over the failure of the US-led Nato troops to stop infiltration of militants at the Pak-Afghan border.
“One wonders how terrorists dare go to Afghanistan without being eliminated by the Isaf and Nato Forces which are equipped with the most advanced weapons,” Gilani asked.
He underscored the importance of relations between the US and Pakistan to go beyond terrorism and cover other areas of bilateral relations on durable basis for the benefit of people of both countries.

Sharif for fresh polls in Pakistan
Pakistan's former premier Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday called for fresh parliamentary elections to be held immediately in Pakistan, saying this was the only option to solve the country's problems.
Sharif said the government has disappointed the people and a fresh mandate is necessary now.
This is the first time that Sharif has called for fresh polls, though other leaders of his PML-N party have often said that the country's problems, including corruption and the perceived inefficiency of the Pakistan People's Party-led government, can only be resolved through mid-term elections.
The two-time premier and PML-N president told Geo News channel that he had advised President Asif Ali Zardari four months ago to hold fresh elections. "It was a sincere advice but President Zardari turned down the proposal," he said.
Pakistan is facing problems like lawlessness, power outages, price hike and unemployment and fresh elections alone are the solution to these issues, Sharif said.
He said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani could dissolve the National Assembly or lower house of parliament and announce fresh elections just as he (Sharif) had done in 1993 when he was the premier.

It is also good because of a court verdict in Karachi........when the Pakistani legal justice system in a small incremental way brought to justice criminal murdering gangs of the Pakistani armed forces.

A Pakistani court on Friday found a paramilitary soldier guilty of murder and sentenced him to death for killing an unarmed man at point blank range in an incident caught on camera in a public park.
It marked the first time that a civilian court in Pakistan has sentenced to death a serving member of the military.
Although the Rangers paramilitary technically comes under the supervision of the interior ministry, it is considered part of the powerful armed forces, which has ruled the country for more than half its existence.
The June 8 killing of Sarfaraz Shah, 22, was filmed by a cameraman and broadcast on television, sparking a backlash over the brutality of trained officers in a country awash with violence blamed on the Taliban and al-Qaida.
Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso read out the verdict before an anti-terrorism court in Karachi, finding Shahid Zafar guilty of pulling the trigger, and sentenced him to death and a fine of 200,000 rupees ($2,300).
"The crime of killing Sarfraz Shah has been proved against you and I announce the death sentence and also impose a fine of 200,000 rupees," said Khoso, addressing the 35-year-old Zafar.
He handed life terms to five other paramilitary soldiers and a civilian who had accused Shah of robbery and dragged him over to them. The judge ordered each to pay 100,000 rupees to the victim's family.
The verdict concludes a relatively swift trial which got underway after the seven defendants were formally charged with murder and terrorism on June 29, just weeks after the killing.
There was a euphoric reaction from the prosecution and the victim's family, but the defence vowed to appeal the sentences.
"The decision is historic, it shows no one is above the law," government prosecutor Mohammed Khan Buriro told reporters.
"The Rangers as an institution was not involved in the murder, and it proved in the court proceedings it was the culprits' own act," he said.
"My family is extremely relieved with the verdict. We have got justice," said Salik Shah, brother of the victim.
So extreme was the public and media reaction to the killing that the government also took the rare step of removing the provincial chiefs of police and Rangers in Karachi.
The widely-aired footage of the killing showed a clean-shaven and unarmed Shah, wearing black trousers and a navy shirt, pleading for his life before he is shot twice.

Pakistani soldier sentenced to death for murder
By Times of India.A Pakistani court on Friday found a paramilitary soldier guilty of murder and sentenced him to death for killing an unarmed man at point blank range in an incident caught on camera in a public park.
It marked the first time that a civilian court in Pakistan has sentenced to death a serving member of the military.
Although the Rangers paramilitary technically comes under the supervision of the interior ministry, it is considered part of the powerful armed forces, which has ruled the country for more than half its existence.
The June 8 killing of Sarfaraz Shah, 22, was filmed by a cameraman and broadcast on television, sparking a backlash over the brutality of trained officers in a country awash with violence blamed on the Taliban and al-Qaida.
Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso read out the verdict before an anti-terrorism court in Karachi, finding Shahid Zafar guilty of pulling the trigger, and sentenced him to death and a fine of 200,000 rupees ($2,300).
"The crime of killing Sarfraz Shah has been proved against you and I announce the death sentence and also impose a fine of 200,000 rupees," said Khoso, addressing the 35-year-old Zafar.
He handed life terms to five other paramilitary soldiers and a civilian who had accused Shah of robbery and dragged him over to them. The judge ordered each to pay 100,000 rupees to the victim's family.
The verdict concludes a relatively swift trial which got underway after the seven defendants were formally charged with murder and terrorism on June 29, just weeks after the killing.
There was a euphoric reaction from the prosecution and the victim's family, but the defence vowed to appeal the sentences.
"The decision is historic, it shows no one is above the law," government prosecutor Mohammed Khan Buriro told reporters.
"The Rangers as an institution was not involved in the murder, and it proved in the court proceedings it was the culprits' own act," he said.
"My family is extremely relieved with the verdict. We have got justice," said Salik Shah, brother of the victim.
So extreme was the public and media reaction to the killing that the government also took the rare step of removing the provincial chiefs of police and Rangers in Karachi.
The widely-aired footage of the killing showed a clean-shaven and unarmed Shah, wearing black trousers and a navy shirt, pleading for his life before he is shot twice.

The United States and Pakistan are heading towards yet another confrontation, perhaps consequentially more devastating than all previous disputes, as the Obama administration prepares to persuade Islamabad to halt the production of nuclear bomb materials.
Recent reports in the US media suggest that the UN General Assembly in New York next month will be the venue for this new push and the US has the blessings of four declared nuclear powers for its move.
Also on Wednesday, the NBC News channel reported that the US was preparing for “the worst-case scenario of attempting to snatch Pakistan`s 100-plus nuclear weapons if it feared they were about to fall into the wrong hands”.
The channel quoted former president Pervez Musharraf as warning that this “would be a disastrous miscalculation, as such an incursion would lead to `total confrontation` between the United States and Pakistan”.
Current and former US officials, however, told NBC News that “ensuring the security of Pakistan`s nuclear weapons has long been a high national security priority, even before the Sept 11 terrorist attacks, and that plans have been drawn up for dealing with worst-case scenarios in Pakistan”.
But the expected confrontation in New York has nothing to do with any secret plan to snatch Pakistan`s nukes. The United States will launch an open move – with support from other powers – to force Pakistan to sign the Fissile Material Cutoff Treaty.
The US media reported that the Obama administration had won China`s support for finalising the FMCT. At a recent conference in Paris, Russia, France and Britain – all declared nuclear powers like China – also supported the US plan.
It is, however, not clear if China would back the move to cap Pakistan`s nuclear capability and thus allow India to become the sole nuclear power in South Asia.
The US and its allies are seeking an agreement by September and then go to the UN General Assembly with a joint plan for starting talks on the FMCT.
So far Pakistan has successfully resisted all international pressure to endorse the FMCT, warning that it would boycott any process to negotiate a US-backed treaty outside the deadlocked UN Conference on Disarmament (UNCD).
The Geneva-based UNCD is the sole negotiating forum for multilateral disarmament but the treaty has been stalled in the conference for 12 years, with Pakistan as the sole holdout against negotiations.
The US move aims at creating a new forum where it can persuade Pakistan to sign the FMCT.
“Our preference is to negotiate an FMCT within the Conference on Disarmament, but that body has been deadlocked by Pakistan,” US Under-secretary of State Ellen Tauscher told a seminar on July 28 in Lafayette, California.
“Thus the US is joining with other key countries to start preparations for a Fissile Material Cutoff Treaty elsewhere until the conference can get down to work,” she said. Pakistan`s acting representative to the UN, Raza Bashir Tarar, last week told a General Assembly meeting in New York that his country “will not join any such process nor would it consider accession to the outcome of any such process”.
To deal with increasing international pressure to stop the production of fissile material, Pakistan tried unsuccessfully to enter into a nuclear agreement with the US similar to the one Washington has signed with India. The deal with the US has paved the way for India to get recognition as a nuclear power without signing the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
The United States has rejected Pakistan`s request, pointing out that the discovery of a network of nuclear proliferates, headed allegedly by Dr A. Q. Khan, disqualifies Pakistan for any deal.

High Profile MQM Conference Leads to Condemnation of Zardari Govt

Altaf Hussein, the founder and leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has a history of condemning the Zardari government, but today used a high profile party conference to accuse the civilian government of secretly being in league with the US to undermine the nation’s military.
Hussein cited recent “conspiratorial behavior” by the government, particularly in its actions in Karachi, as evidence of his allegations. MQM is a hugely powerful party in Karachi, and recent political violence in Karachi has centered around tit-for-tat attacks between them and the ANP, a faction allied with Zardari’s Pakistani People’s Party.
Last year, Hussein responded to a split between MQM and the PPP to call for a military coup and the declaration of martial law on the grounds of growing corruption among the government’s officials. He condemend US support for the government then as well.
Hussein’s comments reflect growing discord between the civilian government and the military, both of which seem to be losing credibility at an alarming rate in the wake of the nation’s unpopular involvement in the US wars in the region and both of which are keen to deflect blame.

It is indeed sad that there is such indiscriminate killing in Karachi and the North West Frontier, overseen as they are by the Pakistan military. Such destabilization programs don't happen in the Punjab obviously since the military is run by the Punjabis.
For stability and peace to come to Pakistan the Pakistan military has to be neutered completely.
Then COMPLETELY circumcised from their gora pudi masters.
ONLY a strong civilian government can do this.
The Pakistan military is run by lower middle class Harijan Coolie Kuta's from the Punjab......It was one great philosopher from the West who acutely observed that the lower middle class are the most dangerous class, since they harbor the ambitions of the elite, but have the habits and thought patterns of the working class.
The Pakistan military strategically, with their "strategic depth theory" is the biggest threat to Pakistan as mentioned on this blog millions of times.....such points have to be memorized into media sound bites by natural patriotic leaders of the country.

In May this year, Imran Khan’s party — the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to hold a dharna (sit-in) outside the Karachi port to block NATO supplies to Afghanistan on the grounds that Pakistan should stop supporting the US in the region. The dharna was a huge success by PTI standards as 7,000 persons turned up.
(Naturally it is not in Pakistan's interests to supply the 250,000 foreign troops and mercenaries in Afghanistan, as it means destabilization of Pakistan from Afghanistan....AND continued yearly serious accusations against Pakistan, justified and unjustified by the USA. When ALL the foreign troops go from Afghanistan, Pakistan will be a little bit more peaceful especially in Baluchistan, where insurgents in the province are backed by various entities from Afghanistan, AND the NWFP...again where various entities from Afghanistan back insurgent groups in that province........though SAD that it is ONLY a right-wing party with only one seat in parliament that is calling for cutting of supplies to the foreign occupation of Afghanistan. It would be far more appropriate if ALL parties across the political spectrum of Pakistan called for complete cutting of supplies to foreign occupation forces in Afghanistan.
Further since the occupation of Afghanistan by foreign gora troops, Afghan heroin/opium production have skyrocketed, and massive quantities of Afghan heroin have ended up in Pakistan creating social and political instability......very few political personalities talk about this aspect of the foreign occupation of Afghanistan. Forget the Pakistan military.
Massive amounts of Afghan heroin goes into Iran with 3 million addicts, where the nation is building a huge security wall/fence costing billions of $ in its Eastern border with Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the loss of 4000 security personnel since 2001 fighting the heroin traffickers from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Afghan heroin goes into Central Asia, Ukraine and Russia resulting in the deaths of millions of people. It is a genocide, but since the government in Russia is Jewish controlled this quiet genocide is not actioned upon, or seriously addressed, or even mentioned. Instead the Jewish controlled Russian government assists the foreign occupation troops in Afghanistan!!!!!! So that they can kill more Russians.

The positive in this is that, although no NATO supply tankers were stopped or delayed, with the dharna staged successfully in terms of numbers of people attending, Imran Khan’s political future seems to have brightened.
(From one seat in parliament to eventually running the country in possible mid-term elections?? seems a stretch.......his good looking, is a media personality, is Punjabi with Pashtun lineage, he is right-wing so obviously appeals to certain elements in the military.
On the other hand, he's making the right noises, doing the right things, and is not linked to the establishment obviously, otherwise he'd have more money and more seats in parliament......but represents a certain urban middle class voice.
As a important, albeit unrepresented VOICE for Pakistanis, he needs to pull about a 1000 media stunts around the country non-stop, peacefully and continue with his good work until elections arise. Maybe in the future one day he can lead the country, but he's got a lot of work to do, and he needs to find patriotic Pakistani sponsors who are filthy rich, without selling himself and the country out in order to get a few more rupees.....in elections in South Asia, its just not about speeches, but about money ultimately. (Wholesome stuff that needs to be translated into policy papers which are easy to follow. This is what Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did after he was released by the military government in the late 1960's. Its ALL good that he is pointing out ALL the problems of the country in rallies and in the media, that allows him to connect with the aam admi of Pakistan......but he also has to come out with clear cut solutions of what HIS VISION FOR Pakistan is which will make things better)
What is interesting, say political observers, is that as relations between the army and mainstream political parties deteriorate, Khan appears have become more acceptable to the men in uniform.
(He's Punjabi, good looking, politically naive in the sense that he has not exercised power...though he has been in politics for a over a decade, and therefore the military think they can manage him as a potential future leader, just as they did Benazir Bhutto 1988---1990, 1993--1996......but did not trust her for the Third Term. The military recognize the cold fact that billionaire crook Zardari even in Purduh is a "no sell" to the Pakistani people and cannot be kept indefinitely in power, WHILST the Pakistani military exercise REAL power in Pakistan and fuck the country up even further. Zardari has to go soon, so the military are groping around for another political civilian front to cover their real power.
Has Imran Khan criticized pointedly and directly the Pakistan military???? There is absolutely no point in seeking power in Pakistan unless as a civilian leader the first thing you do is neuter the Pakistan military.....and second cut their linkage with the gora pudi powers)

Islamic fundamentalism is not the way forward for Pakistan if it wants to be a modern Liberal Democratic state which is industrialized and respected internationally, and prosperous. You cannot use religion to run a country.. doesn't work----look at Iran)
Political parties are increasingly becoming critical of the armed forces — that too in public discourse. PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has asked the army chief and the ISI head to step down as they have “no moral authority to head the armed forces after the Bin Laden and Mehran base debacle.” Sharif is not alone in his criticism. There is a rising demand for more accountability of the military and for political overview of the armed forces.

That operation was carried out by the SSG for the JEWSA, and Obama's re-election campaign.....AND then Assfuck Kiyani and Suja Pasha stood to attention whilst the JEWSA gloated over the killing of Osama, taking credit for it......AND insulting the Pakistani military by saying that, ""The Pakistani military has been humbled"(Mullen) and "We can attack any part of Pakistan at any time in the future" (Mullen/Gates Freudian slip).......ie..Mehran naval base attack.
Either the above, or the fairy tale that the America's came ALL the way from Afghanistan on a hour flight, undetected into a garrison town which is heavily militarized being near the Indian border, ALL the radar switched off, and ALL the garrison men sound asleep for 1 whole hour, including 25% of the military who would be on night duty, whilst the Americans shot up Osama's compound......AND then took him away on a further one hour return flight to Afghanistan.

President Asif Ali Zardari seems to be playing both sides. He accuses Sharif of inciting dissent in the armed forces and trying to promote extremist elements within the army. But he has successfully pushed for greater powers for the prime minister and supremacy of parliament.
(Billionaire crook Zardari is guided by the American embassy on his daily visits there next door to the Presidential palace.....lets not anoint him with special political wisdom and acumen where non exist....ditto ManMohan Singh through Sonia, though obviously as yet no signs that MMS is a billionaire crook.
As to whether he has successfully pushed for greater powers for the PM position, and the supremacy of parliament...I doubt it. On security and foreign policy, by the overt actions of the state, it is still the Pakistan military which is dictating policy)
Last month, finance minister Dr Hafeez Shaikh promised more details of military spending in the coming budget and let out that it is “government policy to ensure there are more answers being given by the GHQ.” Till now, the army leadership has brushed aside civilian interference in its affairs.

Setting the mood in what can be seen as a policy shift, ISI chief General Ahmed Shuja Pasha gave a closed door briefing to parliament on the Abbottabad incident.

This was followed by a fiery question and answer session in which Pasha exchanged hot words with opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. In many ways, the army seems on the defensive. On the other hand — as seen in the Saleem Shahzad killing — old habits die hard. But there are some who still defend the actions of the men in khaki. One of them is Imran Khan.

When asked, Khan suggested that the Shahzad killing may have been an attempt to tarnish “the good name of the military.” He called it a conspiracy at a time when all other political leaders demanded a commission of inquiry be constituted with a Supreme Court judge as its head.
Journalist Shamimur Rehman says that the recent popularity of Khan’s dharna suggests that he is being backed in his political ambitions by a third force. “This is not new in Pakistan. Ironically, the army’s biggest critic, Sharif, also enjoyed military patronage in his early political career,” adds Rehman.
Some wonder what the next stage for Khan may be. The army’s relations with political parties continue to deteriorate. Zardari is trying to build bridges only because army backing is needed for him to continue to stay in power. There are complications here as well. “This is a party that the army traditionally distrusts because of its secular credentials,” says Kamran Shafi, a political analyst and former military officer.
As a grand opposition alliance comes into being this month, there are expectations that the political temperature in the country will rise. On the one hand will be the ruling party and its reluctant ally, the PML-Q party, which owes its existence to General Musharraf. On the other would be the PML-N and the MQM, two major political forces which represent the urban centres in Punjab and Sindh provinces.

As has been the case in the past, there is a likely scenario that the army would come to the rescue of the government if the situation becomes critical. Such a situation was seen in 2009 when a long march by the PML-N almost shut down Punjab province and forced Zardari to reinstate the chief justice. That deal was brokered at the prodding of the army chief, say insiders.
Such history may be repeated. Analysts say that Imran Khan is now being seen as the “reserve candidate” of the army high command. Acceptable to both right and left, Khan may be installed as a compromise prime minister if political forces are unable to reach a compromise. Ruling party figures say that such a possibility would be “unacceptable” to them.
“The thought seems ludicrous,” says information minister Firdous Ashiq Awan. However, stranger things have happened in Pakistan’s political history. And with corruption becoming a national topic of debate, such a proposal seems to be gaining ground in many areas of Pakistan.
(If Imran Khan's Insaaf (Justice party) has only one seat now, and in the next mid-term elections he suddenly has enough seats to form a government then a "soft coup" will have been conducted by the Pakistan military (ISI).........just as the PPP under Zardari was brought into power in 2008, after they murdered Benazir.....Benazir in her Third Term would have been too smart for the military. She would have been too familiar with their tricks of the trade.)
