Iran's defense.....helpful if the mullahs understood American military strategy, and US actual regional strategy/experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is desirable that the Iranian conventional military perform well (airforce, army), should the country be attacked by the forces of International Judaism, with their Western dogs.  This fact is still true, despite the fact that the country is run by undesirable, Medieval, and corrupt mullahs, who have chased out 5 million educated Iranians.

It is not good for Iran, or the region, or the world if these Jew led criminal forces have a easy victory as they did against Iraq in 1991, and 2003....and in Afghanistan in 2001. Easy military victories encourage them to invade and attack more countries in the region....with more war, and more conflict, which subsequently cause the death of millions.

So from the point of view of Iran, what is the secret of easy American victories in Iraq and Afghanistan?

1. One should closely study American military doctrine.

2. Study American military operations in Iraq and Taliban Afghanistan.

A metaphor for moderate, secular Syria

Military preparations against Israel solely therefore is not that important, for Iran's defense....actual fighting will probably be done with the Israeli led dogs.

Firing a few Saddam like SSM at Israel will not enhance Iran's defense significantly overall, other than providing a little psychological relief.

I therefore do not understand or agree with the repeated threat to fire large numbers of missiles at Israel, in retaliation for an Israeli led attack on Iran.  Yes OK and then what?

I do not agree with the Iranian national focus with SSMs, (i) and their ability to win a long engagement of 1-5 years (ii) Protect the Iranian landmass from repeated attacks by the NATO/USA forces, lasting 1 year.

Iran's PPP GDP is a meager $1,000 billion of which about $800 billion forms part of the official economy. The mullah's are confident that Iran will not be attacked, and have thus settled for relatively low defense expenditures of about $24--$33 billion. Whilst the USA unofficially spends between $1,000--$1500 billion on its huge security state, as part of its massive $15,000 billion economy.

With such a small military budget such as Iran's in comparison, Iran should have modest objectives in the defense of the country. However sadly the Iranian military machine small as it is work at cross purposes, and without an overall strategy of NATIONAL DEFENSE......that is cohesive and prioritized.

1. The irrelevant politicized businessmen of the small Revolutionary Guard (120,000) wish to carry out fancy, elaborate foreign operations in the GCC, Iraq, Afghanistan and else where if Iran is attacked........yes perhaps some of these offensive operations will be successful, but WHOLLY irrelevant if in the process of 1 year Iran is bombed back to the Stone Age by the USA/NATO.....with physical damage to the country's infrastructure of $1000 billion (Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Libya, Syria).......a bit like a Waffen SS soldier coming home on leave in late July 1944 to find his whole country destroyed by Allied air-power, whilst his SS unit expertly fight the Allies in France.....or a Soviet soldier heroically defending Stalingrad with great skill, whilst German Stuka bombers reduce the great industrial city to the ground.

The irrelevant politicized businessmen of the Revolutionary Guard should defend Iran FIRST....its cities, its industrial centers and security sites, before embarking on sexy foreign military adventures abroad because they believe it will bring them fame, and importance. Their over-sized ego's have been massaged by the mullahs with considerable financial patronage leading to an imbalance of a Pasdaran over equipped and over funded, AND with wholly irrelevant military strategies.

2. The Navy: Iran has been a land power for 3000 years. This strategic historical fact has not changed, even with the best propaganda from the Israeli agents within Iran. The USA/UK have great navies because they are surrounded by the sea, and because they believe GOD has anointed them to interfere in the internal affairs of countries around the world....for which they require large expensive navies. Iran as a Third World semi-industrialized country does not have that luxury of projecting power far from her shores....nor should Iran have such an intention, given her limited resources. All military resources should be concentrated on defending Iranian air-space first, and the landmass from invasion. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

It will be donkey foolish if the Iranian navy carries out elaborate maneuvers during war in the Persian Gulf, The Red Sea, in the Mediterranean sea, the Indian ocean, the Atlantic ocean, the Pacific ocean or the Arctic ocean, or the Mare Anguis WHILST the Iranian landmass is being destroyed by USA/NATO/Israeli air-power, with cruise missile attacks over some 2500 targets on the LAND MASS of Iran...under the USA military doctrine of "Shock and Awe" as practiced in Iraq, Afghanistan and recently Libya.

It would be donkey stupid if this basic fact is ignored. But I understand that rarely do donkey stupid men become military commanders, and that they are more likely to be foreign recruited agents of Israel/USA/UK.

"Just War" is important for Iran as a moral, psychological and propaganda tool. On that basis Iran must NEVER close the Straights of Hormuz, since parts of it constitute International Waters. Whilst Iran may have grievances against nations which are at war with the Islamic Republic, Iran should not harm innocent bystanders and neutral nations who are not in any way involved in the conflict against Iran.........China's, Japan's, South Korea's, India's oil going through the Persian Gulf AND for this REASON alone Iran must not attack and block the Straights of Hormuz......THIS WOULD BE A BIG STRATEGIC MISTAKE....and illegal under International law. The agents of Israel/USA/UK within Iran's military will say that Iran can and will close the Straights of Hormuz, but they are playing the game of their masters in London, Tel a Viv and Washington.

However let me make it clear.....land based military assets in Iran, which can also be used to defend the Iranian LANDMASS......such as the air-force, and land based SSM should certainly be used to attack enemy targets in the Persian Gulf effectively.

By Presstv.com
A senior Iranian commander says the Army Ground Forces plan to launch a military drill codenamed Qaem in the western part of the country.

Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Saturday that the drill would begin on Monday.

Pourdastan added that the Army Ground Forces had planned eight military drills to be held in the current Persian calendar year (beginning March 21) of which three have been carried out.
.
Last week, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched a three-day missile drill codenamed the Great Prophet 7, in the central Iranian province of Semnan.

Indigenous missiles including Shahab (Meteor) 1, 2, 3, Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf), Tondar (Lightning), Fateh (Victor) and Zelzal (Quake) as well as Qiam (Uprising) were tested during the drill.

In February, the IRGC conducted a military exercise named Val Fajr in Markazi (central) Desert days after the Army’s air forces wrapped up the four-day exercise, Tharallah, near the strategic Persian Gulf region.

Also in February, during the Hamiyan-e Velayat drill, the IRGC forces practiced tactical commando raid and aerial combat, launched air offensive and defensive operations and carried out heliborne and anti-heliborne operations.

In January, the IRGC Ground Forces held the Shohaday-e Vahdat military drill in the eastern province of Khorasan Razavi.
