The Shah of Iran had some plans to create a trading bloc including the whole of South Asia, Afghanistan and Iran.
The current Jewish sanction regime is reducing Iran's trading volume with the entire Western Hemisphere. Iran however naturally wants to expand its exports, especially its non-oil exports which were $45 billion 2011-2012 financial year ending march, and a target of $75 billion for financial year 2012-2013....and eventually by 2015, its non-oil exports will be bigger than its oil exports. This is a very significant and logical step for the economic planners of Iran to take in view of the future, and a remarkable achievement by the mullah puppets of Iran installed by the UK/USA in 1979 (Not everything is medieval donkey dog bad about the mullahs.)
To achieve these targets IRAN MUST find new markets for its goods and services, with friendly countries, such as China, its biggest trading partner, where the volume of trade between the two could reach $100 billion by 2015 {Can China sell 200 FD-2000 systems to Iran in return trade, with 10,000 missiles?}. However, this trade is very linear...Iran exports oil only, and presumably the Chinese will press for sale of infrastructure and industry to Iran {plus air-defense systems?}.
So the barter trade between Pakistan and Iran is very logical......no doubt Pakistan can offer many fields of expertise, most notably the joint manufacture of military equipment, with newly named military hardware such as cruise missiles, and JF-17, and the HQ-9/FD-2000 SAMs.
With unofficial barter and exchange, when the USA imposed an embargo/sanction against arms sales to Pakistan in 1965....Iran helped Pakistan with the supply of 90 F-86 Sabres and the promise of further help, so now the time has come for Pakistan to supply arms to Iran through barter, especially air-defense systems, with manufacturing capability.

Iran open to barter
trade with Pakistan: Ahmadinejad
Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (R) meets with a visiting Pakistani delegation in Tehran

Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad says the Islamic Republic sees no barriers in the
development of barter trade with other countries, particularly Pakistan.
As two big neighboring states, Iran and Pakistan have a great deal
of potential to cooperate with each other, President Ahmadinejad stated
during a meeting with a visiting Pakistani delegation in Tehran on
Sunday.
He noted that Iran is ready to share its scientific and
technological achievements with Pakistan, and import goods from its
eastern neighbor in return.
The Iranian president later termed bartering as one of the greatest
ways in trade exchange, highlighting that Tehran intends to use the
method in its trade transactions with Islamabad.
Bartering benefits both parties involved and Western banks will not thus benefit from the process of trade, President Ahmadinejad pointed out.
He said Iran imports some 80 billion dollars worth of goods from
abroad per annum, and is willing to boost its imports from Pakistan. (I thought imports were around $56 billion for 2011-2012?)
President Ahmadinejad further stated that Iran is ready to export
energy, electricity, as well as various products to Pakistan and share
its scientific and technological experiences with the Muslim nation.
The Pakistani delegation, for its part, stressed that Islamabad
seeks the promotion of ties and cooperation with Iran within a defined
regional framework, and appreciates Tehran’s assistance in this regard.
