Yes, it is quite clear the Pakistani military is taking Pakistan down the wrong road.
It is the most powerful institution in Pakistan, which controls foreign policy and security both domestic and international, BUT through the "Strategic Depth" decisions of the Pakistan military the country is sliding and failing. IT IS THE PAKISTAN MILITARY WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COUNTRY'S SERIES OF ENDLESS WOES.
The Pakistan military must be challenged ULTIMATELY, by all patriotic Pakistani civilians when they attempt to steer the country down the right path away from disaster and foreign occupation.
But many people in Pakistan do not understand this simple fact......because either they are seduced by the massive domestic propaganda that the Pakistan military is indeed the best last hope for Pakistan, OR they are intimidated by its sheer power and size (800,000 military personnel, 300,000 paramilitary personnel, 3,000,000 reserves and retirees and finally 500,000 Islamists which work closely under the direction of the military (ISI).....nurtured since the 1970s as a proxy militia force; HUJI, LeT, Asian Tigers, TTP, Afghan Taliban and Tatti Islamia)
I am not suggesting arms should be taken up against the Pakistan military, NO. This is what foreign powers with nefarious designs would want. What I am suggesting is that the Pakistan military must be identified as the main THREAT for Pakistan, educationally, psychologically by the people who are largely illiterate. Through national politics brought under the control of civilian governments.....as is the case and process in Turkey now.
The PML (N) can do this for Pakistan, or some other party.
But the PPP, 3 years into power now shows they are wholly incapable of exploiting glaring weaknesses and short-comings of the "Strategic Depth" Pakistan military (exposed as they have been by the (i) fake Abbottabad raid on 2nd May killing Osama Bin Laden......where was Pakistan's early warning system? Where were Pakistan's great military for 1 or so hours in a garrison town called Abbottabad......sleeping allegedly?
(ii) The Mehran naval base attack, again showing the incompetence of the Pakistan military against half a dozen infiltrators for 17 hours, armed with NATO supplied ultra-modern equipment.
(iii) Various drone attacks which allegedly are taking place without Pakistan's permission, with the death of 1500 Pakistani civilians......HOW CAN THE USA CONDUCT DRONE STRIKES WITHOUT Pakistan military SECURITY CLEARANCE?????........Normally they shouldn't be able to.
(iv) The Raymond Davis affair where allegedly 2 ISI officers were killed by the American in Punjaub Lahore.........But he is allowed to leave Pakistan free.
A normal civilian government should have taken the TOP MILITARY BRASS OF PAKISTAN APART.....for such monumental failures, but the PPP leadership and Zardari Bhen didn't.
WHY?
Because the PPP government is a weak puppet government installed and brought into power by the USA from 2008. Therefore we must not expect anything better from it. Rehman Malik is the USA puppet point man after all who stage manages ALL such failures for the $. The same is the case with most of the PPP ministers, and especially Zardari.
Therefore the PPP government as a vital annex to the Pakistan military's failure, which therefore must be removed from power as soon as possible using "People Power" and a vote of no confidence in Parliament if possible. Then fresh elections, and a new government which is far more focused on curtailing the power of the Pakistan military (cutting the defense budget, cutting the size of the Pakistan military which obviously has shown that it can't defend Pakistan.......or worse is collaborating with the USA in destabilizing Pakistan)
