By Presstv.com

An academic delegation from Germany is visiting Iran in the hope of boosting scientific cooperation between the two countries.
.
The visit comes as the two sides are scheduled to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on scientific and technology cooperation.
.
Representatives from different German universities, directed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), held talks with chancellors of Iranian universities in Tehran on Sunday.
.
The 3-hour meeting dubbed “Iran-Germany Academic Cooperation” centered on the academic potentials of each country and the capacities for student and professor exchange between the two countries.
.
The German delegation has also toured Iranian universities and research institutes.
.
“We can initiate, and we had in the morning a long session, we talked about possible programs, possible transnational projects between German and Iranian universities and we are quite impressed by the high quality of the universities in Iran,” DAAD President Margret Wintermantel told Press TV.

“We can start more cooperation and intensify our cooperation and I think it would be fine, if we will be success what we began today,” she added.
High potentials of both Iranian and German universities brought hope to both sides for boosting academic cooperation.
.
On Saturday, Wintermantel said that DAAD plans to open an official bureau in Tehran.
The largest of its kind in the world, DAAD is the German national agency for supporting international academic cooperation by offering scholarships and grants to qualified foreign students.
.
According to Wintermantel, the visit is aimed at “initiating new contacts between German and Iranian universities and deepening existing (academic) contacts”.
