I take offense to any unfounded slurs against my country, the UK.
I grew up in the UK, with its free education, free health care, free public amenities, cucumber sandwich, cheese and Branston pickle sandwich, fish and chips, civilized refined manners, the expression of humor and anger through sarcasm, the class system, the BBC, cricket....love, progress, development, friendship, intellectual conversation...which I sadly don't have any more since I left the wonderful Island.
On the other hand there is Sir Jimmy Savile OBE, KCSG.
He was Neanderthal ugly
He couldn't dance
He couldn't sing
He couldn't act
He couldn't speak properly...in the league of Parkinson, Wogan, Aspel....
No formal education
No other skills
He couldn't do anything except run in marathons
But they said he was a typical British 'eccentric' and had a 'personality'......whatever that means?
By the 1960's they would have, should have known by his repeated habits that he liked murdering people, attacking kids sexually, attacking hospital patients, having sex with dead bodies and holding satanic rituals.
And yet there he was rubbing shoulders with the high and mighty in the land.
Spending time with Prince Charles days and days in seclusion teaching the future king the finer craft of his trade, which eventually must have nauseated Lady Diana.....who then had to be murdered of course.
With Margaret Thatcher about the finer arts of groping little girls and killing children.
With Edward Health and his yacht at sea, from where children never returned.
With his teams of policemen buddies all over the country
With his teams of military buddies
With his celebrity friends, introducing them to Jersey and other children's homes.
What shall we call this where such an evil utter shit of a worthless man becomes the mascot of the ruling elite, dined, wined elevated and honored with gilded titles....... moral decay, Victorian values or utterly CORRUPTED SOCIETY.
State corruption or national corruption we (UK) associate with poor, brown dysfunctional countries.
The failed state.
The repeated byline in the UK is that the country isn't Somalia,'We are not Somalia' 'We are not a banana republic' 'We are a rich country' 'People don't know how lucky we are'.......yes true you can be all this and still be utterly corrupted.

Transparency International is a German NGO, and the UK and Germany are natürlich in the top 10 least corrupt countries.
But there is CORRUPTION......and Corruption. We all come to it from different interpretations...BUT
A modern state can be both highly efficient and utterly corrupt at the same time

And those vicious rumours that the British military in Afghanistan is harvesting Opium, putting them on military planes, and shipping them to the UK is not true
Or Cocaine in Colombia again by the British military

Britain
is the most corrupt country in the world, according to journalist
Roberto Saviano, who spent more than a decade exposing the criminal
dealings of the Italian Mafia.

Mr Saviano, who wrote the best-selling exposés Gomorrah andZeroZeroZero, made the comments at the Hay Literary Festival.
The 36-year-old has been living under police protection since
publishing revelations about members of the Camorra, a powerful
Neapolitan branch of the mafia, in 2006.

He told an
audience at Hay-on-Wye: “If I asked you what is the most corrupt place
on Earth you might tell me well it’s Afghanistan, maybe Greece, Nigeria,
the South of Italy and I will tell you it’s the UK.

“It’s
not the bureaucracy, it’s not the police, it’s not the politics but
what is corrupt is the financial capital. 90 per cent of the owners of
capital in London have their headquarters offshore.

“Jersey
and the Cayman’s are the access gates to criminal capital in Europe and
the UK is the country that allows it. That is why it is important why
it is so crucial for me to be here today and to talk to you because I
want to tell you , this is about you, this is about your life, this is
about your government.”

Prime minister David Cameron faced
growing calls for the UK to reform the offshore tax havens operating on
its own Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, as Britain hosted an Anti-Corruption Summit earlier this month.

The UK ranked 10th in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index 2015, which measures the perceived levels of public sector corruption worldwide.
Mr
Saviano also weighed in on the EU referendum debate, arguing a vote to
leave would make the UK even more exposed to the organised crime.

said: “Leaving the EU means allowing this to take place. It means
allowing the Qatari societies, the Mexican cartels, the Russian Mafia to
gain even more power and HSBC has paid £2 billion Euros in fines to the
US government, because it confessed that it had laundered money coming
from the cartels. We have proof, we have
evidence.”
