Iskander Mirza

He was part of the Aristocracy of Bengal, and was related to Mir Jafar.

His ability to run the colonial administrative units had brought him to a prominence that prompted the British Indian Government to appointed him as the Joint Defence Secretary of India in 1946.[3] In this position, he was responsible for dividing the British Indian Army into the future armies of Pakistan and India.[3] In 1947, Mirza became Pakistan's first defense secretary in the government of Liaquat Ali Khans.' WIKIPEDIA

The Pakistani military conducted several near coups in the 1950's which destabilized Pakistan. Civilian governments came and went.

Iskander Mirza as a civilian politician in suits made one BIG mistake............he trusted the military too much, and in doing so he signed his OWN downfall, and exile from his own country, living as a recluse in London until his death in 1969.

ALL TRUE CIVILIAN POLITICIANS in Pakistan have to understand a few fundamental truths:

1. The Pakistan military is the primary threat to the peaceful development of the country. The military bastardizes and debases the true national objectives of the country into the current Failed State number 12 from the bottom.

2. The British created Pakistan for its own strategic objectives. This is articulated through the British trained military/ISI

3. The USA plays a negative role in Pakistan.
This is articulated through the American trained and funded military/ISI(40% of its budget)

4. No civilian ruler/politician/government can come to power by stabbing a previous Civilian government, and hope to stay for long.

5. No civilian government can stay in power, merely based on a hope and a prayer that the military will back them with good will. A good civilian government can ONLY stay in power for a 5 year mandate or more, through the good work of their government policies which benefit the masses......not by a Mir Jafar fix it by the political opponents.

Some misguided individuals may say that toppling Sharif after one year in power is a good idea, but:

(i) 'Here, but for the grace of GOD go I'....Today it is Sharif, and who is to say that tomorrow it wont be the next civilian government given the same treatment. This is a recipe towards a slippery slope of destabilized civilian governments at the utter mercy of the military.

(ii) Within the real strategic power structure, Sharif is the real ally of the Insaf Party, not the military or this foreign intelligence card board, al-Qadri. Through Sharifs success, the Insaf can only hope to one day come into power sharing in the future, or form their own government. Under military rule, the Insaf party has zero power, beyond rallies and protests.

Imran Khan has done well winning 35 seats, and as the third major political force in politics. This is unique and important, and should be appreciated with further consolidation. Maybe there was vote rigging in 2013...and he may have actually won 40 seats or 45 or 50....but so what? This would not have made any difference in any real political sense.

Imran Khan's objective now is to make the Insaaf the second most important political force through effective constitutional opposition, and expansion of their political base into Sindh and further strengthening their position in Punjab. Usurpation of power by Insaaf, a la 'Arab Spring' is not feasible and dangerous for Pakistan. The generals are back in power in Egypt..........civilian politicians are out.

Sharif cannot step down from power merely because the upstart leader of the third largest political cult party says so.

Sharif as PM cannot concede any of his political power to the military. This is unconstitutional.

The Insaf should vacate the Red Zone as stipulated by the SC.
