Iran May Agree to Snap UN Nuclear Inspections

An Iranian official also said their nuclear program's expansion may be halted in exchange for lifting of sanctions

Iran’s official news agency has reported that a deal may be in the works for Iran to agree to an additional protocol of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) which would allow UN inspectors to make immediate, impromptu visits to Iran’s nuclear sites.

The official quoted, Iran’s ambassador to Moscow, Reza Sajjadi, also said a deal might include Iran halting expansion of its nuclear program if the West halts further sanctions. ....and abolishes all imposed sanctions since 1996, from the Clinton administration and onwards.

If true, these sound like deals few observers expected would materialize before the talks began. Iran was fully within its rights even as it caught harsh U.S. and Israeli criticism and even threats of war. Now, they seem to be yielding to the pressure even more.

The good news coming out of the nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 didn’t stop Israeli officials from disparaging the diplomacy. At Israel’s annual Independence Day ceremony on Thursday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that because Iran probably won’t “heed international demands” regarding its nuclear program, “[n]ow is the moment for the entire international community to gear up to put a swift and decisive end to Iran’s nuclear program.”

Indeed, despite the predictable derogatory comments about the talks and threats of war from Barak and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, there is a considerable amount of optimism coming out of the negotiations that a settlement is in the works.

Barak’s comments seem even more absurd just days after Israel’s top military chief joined with the overwhelming consensus of the world and said publicly that Iran’s leaders are rational actors and are not seeking nuclear weapons.

Rational actor is a subjective term when relating to a regime that has taken over embassies, attacked embassies, sent children to war, stoned to death adulterers, executes more children than any other nation on earth, conducts mass execution of prisoners......an "unique" nation where mullahs run the country, who use Islam as their guiding state policy light.

HOWEVER, given mullah rule for 33 years in sum total one can conclusively surmise that the ruling mullah elite enjoy their power over Iran, and their position of privilege and graft through various charitable trusts, and disbursement of state oil revenue (Bonyads--Some of the richest men in Iran are mullahs and their families).

Given this reality the mullahs RATIONALLY would not want to do anything which harms their delicate illegal apple cart of privilege and power...for example by directly attacking Israel, or any country for that matter, based on some illusive ideological zeal.

In 1998 they did threaten CIA Taliban Afghanistan by massing 250,000 troops on the Afghan border, after 'al-CIA-duh' massacred some of their diplomats in that country in Mazar-i-Sharif, but that is as far as it went.

The mullahs, installed by the USA/UK in 1979, crave legitimacy and the status quo of the present situation so that they can continue enjoying the gravy train of Persian rule indefinitely.

The Mullahs, with the full knowledge of the Supreme Leader in addition have shown from time to time a penchant for covert cooperating with the USA...viz the October Surprise 1980, Iran Contra 1981--1985, and even more actions not widely known save for the State Depart/CIA.

Mullah Iran does not have a secret nuke bomb program, and this policy has been legitimated by the Supreme Leader since 2005, and his special fatwa against such a weapon. A growing number of international organizations recognize this fact. As do some RATIONAL Israelis it seems.
