tHE VERY REAL THREAT TO DESTROY AND DESTABILISE THE REGIME and replace it with a Marxist cult MEK WHICH OBVIOUSLY THE MULLAHS UNDERSTAND WILL LEAD TO A BLOOD BATH......as the mullahs themselves killed 30,000??? There is no 'strategy' here by the USA but is a long process of CHAOS in the region, and specifically against IRAN BY THE EMPIRE OF CHAOS.....for Israel, and for Christian religiously extremist nutjobs, and the MIC profits.
That is why everything the USA does overtly and covertly in the region and against IRAN specifically appears IRRATIONAL AND ILLEGAL, AND CONTRADICTORY.......with fumbling lies as excuses.
The mullahs DON'T respond to American provocations because the USA is much more powerful conventionally, but also the mullahs don't want to create a powerful military AS A RESPONSE TO AMERICAN BULLYING inside Iran with which the mullahs then have to nervously share power with (Pakistan/USA/Nort Korea). That is why defense spending since the end of the Iran Iraq war has been consistently around 3% of GDP in Iran even during the dark days of Bush II threats from 2007, and the Axis of Evil label.
This is why the mullahs have created a parallel security organisation which enjoys more media coverage than the conventional Iranian military---PASDARAN the revolutionary Guards, and the Basij.
The Mullahs motivations beyond Israeli propaganda and paranioa are as follows:
1. Maintain the survival of the SHIA mullah regime.
2. Aid fellow Shia's in the region against attacks from Sunni groups and states.(Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen)
3. Enrich themselves as much as possible from the vast wealth potential of the Persian state and people. Top echelons of the mullah regime are ALL multi-millionaires without any skilling or undertaking any actual business.(corruption/kleptocracy)
