Top Chinese spymaster investigated for corruption

By Presstv.com

China’s Communist Party has detained the deputy head of its own intelligence agency as part of a widespread investigation on government corruption, authorities say.
.
Ma Jian, a deputy head of China's Ministry of State Security, has been placed under arrest for alleged “serious disciplinary violation,” the party's internal watchdog said on Friday.
.
Reports say his arrest may be associated with a high-profile anti-graft investigation into activities at the Founder Group, a Peking University-owned technology conglomerate.
.
Ma is believed to have close relations to Founder chief executive, Li You, who is accused of insider trading and misappropriating company assets.
.
Little public information has remained about Ma except that he worked at the Ministry of State Security for more than 30 years.
.
Reports say the ministry is responsible for intelligence gathering overseas and surveillance against Chinese dissidents, though it lacks a website or public address.
.
Ma’s arrest makes him the highest-ranking national security official to be investigated since the downfall of former domestic security chief Zhou Yongkang.
.
The Chinese government has embarked on a large-scale campaign against deep-rooted graft in the past two years.
.
President Xi Jinping has pledged to bring corrupt officials to justice and promote the country’s legal system amid his efforts to restore trust in the Communist Party, which has been hit by a series of graft and abuse-of-power scandals.
.
Tens of thousands of officials have already been arrested since Xi enforced a wide-ranging crackdown on corruption within the Communist Party. The president said widespread graft threatens the party’s survival.(and the development of the country......the richest countries in the world are also the least corrupt. If only India could learn from China's example)
