Avoiding civil war in Syria

(China Daily Editor:梁军) and therearenosunglasses.com

When China joined hands with Russia on Saturday to veto an Arab-European draft UN resolution backing an Arab League plan to promote a regime change in Syria, its stance was consistent with its approach to international issues.

The draft resolution that sought to realize a regime change in Syria did not adequately reflect the state of affairs in this Middle East country.

In putting the resolution to the vote, Western powers hoped to further exert pressure on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down, thus paving the way for the removal of a regime that is an obstacle to their policies in the Middle East.

By only exerting pressure on the Syrian government and explicitly trying to coerce its leader al-Assad to step down, the resolution sends the message to armed groups and opponents of his regime that they have the support of the international community. This will undoubtedly make the Syrian situation even more complicated and make it impossible for all parties to reach a conciliatory agreement that is in the best interests of the country and its people.

We’ve seen what happened in Libya. With the armed intervention by some major Western powers, the Libyan regime was overthrown. But instead of the democracy and freedom they were promised, Libyan people cannot even live in peace as the country is in the danger of falling into a sectarian civil war.

It is not a question of whether Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad should step down or not. It is whether the ever-worsening crisis in the country will be brought to an end in such a way that the country will not be plunged into a sectarian civil war and its people plunged into even greater misery.

China maintains that any attempt by the international community to help Syria solve its crisis must respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the country.

A messy civil war in Syria will not be conducive to peace in the Middle East.

Russia’s stance that conditions should not be imposed on dialogue, and that any efforts should influence not just the government but also the armed groups is reasonable. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Mikhail Fradkov, the director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, will travel to Syria on Feb 7 to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The draft resolution was presented too hastily and the international community should give the Russian diplomatic endeavor time to soften the positions of all the parties in Syria so that an agreement can be reached that is for the good of the country.

The Chinese government believes that, in line with the UN Charter, political consultations are the best way to help a nation solve any political crisis.

In "liberated" Libya, Tunisia and Egypt its ALL BAD

Turkey's Erdogan
IS JEWISH?

1. Most of the top Islamists secretly work for Israel and its allies, it seems.

Turkey's Erdogan, the Saudi leadership, and the leaders of the Qatar, Libya and Tunisia all follow the Israeli-US-NATO line and criticise Assad of Syria.

This is in spite of the fact that the Arab league monitors found that the slaughter in Syria is the work of foreign-backed subversives

Pepe Escobar exposes: the agenda in Syria:

"The report was leaked. (Here it is, in full.)

"The report is adamant.

"There was no organized, lethal repression by the Syrian government against peaceful protesters.

"Instead, the report points to shady armed gangs as responsible for hundreds of deaths among Syrian civilians, and over one thousand among the Syrian army, using lethal tactics such as bombing of civilian buses, bombing of trains carrying diesel oil, bombing of police buses and bombing of bridges and pipelines..."

The Syrian government is fighting heavily armed foreign mercenaries.

The report largely confirms these suspicions.

JEWISH CONTROL OF SAUDI ARABIA?

2. The Israeli-US-NATO Arab Spring has attempted to:

(A) move countries such as Libya firmly into the Israeli-US-NATO camp.

Libya now appears to be the main base for the CIA's al-Qaeda.

(B) weaken countries such as Egypt economically.

The Arab Spring could not have succeeded without there being traitors within the Arab elite.

The Arab spring economies are in deep trouble according to The Economist

Tunisia did have fast GDP growth.

Under Ben Ali, there were some clever entrepreneurs.

Now the Tunisian government says the economy has contracted by 1.8%.

Egypt has seen a decline from 5% to 1%.

Libya’s economy is thought to have contracted by more than 50%.

In Tunisia many hotels remain closed.

A Tunisian analyst reckons 120 foreign firms have shut up shop, cutting 40,000 jobs.

Yazaki, a Japanese cable manufacturer, recently pulled out of a poor rural region. (The Economist)

Who are they really working for?

3. What have the Israelis and their allies done to the 'Arab Spring' countries?

Libya is now largely lawless. (The Economist)

In Egypt the police force has withdrawn from many districts, leaving control to local youths.

"George Bahna, who runs an engineering-services company, says he abandoned a large project near the city of Suez when locals raided his warehouse and fought gun battles over control of his property." (The Economist)

Tunisia's government "has recorded a total of 330 sit-ins and other protests in the first three weeks of this year over a lack of government services." (The Economist)

There are a huge numbers of strikes.

"Businessmen complain of red tape becoming 'even redder'". (The Economist)

Egypt's foreign-currency reserves have dropped from $36 billion to $10 billion in the past year.

4. Nothing is quite what it seems in the Arab world. Some might say that very few of the Islamists can be trusted.

The Gaza Flotilla was a NATO-MOSSAD false flag operation.

"The agent who co-ordinated the NATO / Mossad Operation was Abdelhakim Belhadj, who is now in charge of NATO´s training of the so called 'Free Syrian Army'.

"Further more, the Palestinian Intelligence Source stated, that 'certain high ranking members of Hamas had been involved in planning the operation', and that Hamas or at least a strong fraction of Hamas had entered into agreements with Turkey and NATO, to establish a 'Palestinian Spring' as soon as the campaign against the government of Syria had succeeded..."

Belhaj

"It is thought that the Gaza flotilla massacre was a huge deception orchestrated by Turkey and Israel in order to facilitate the elimination of certain Turkish figures who had been opposed to Erdogan’s intended war on Syria..."

"In addition to al-Harati, NATO darling Abdelhakim Belhaj himself was also on board the Mavi Marmara on that fateful night."

Was the Gaza Flotilla Massacre a Turkish-Israeli False Flag and Precursor to the War on Syria?

5. What should the Arab World do?

Former World Bank vice president Shahid Javed Burki has said that the Arab world should begin to delink from the West and connect with other parts of the world for their economies to grow. (Asian nations 'key to Arab economies)

Afghanistan is a huge opium plantation operation for Wall Street and the "The City"...hence reasonably decent Americans are "confused", dissolutioned

.
.
.

Oh dear! After 10 years occupation of Afghanistan, a middle ranking officer serving in the hyper-power JEWSA military has just realized the total disconnect of what the Israeli owned powers that be think in Capitol Hill and the Pentagon, with the reality on the ground in Afghanistan................AND has decided to share it with a wider audience within the sisterhood.

No shit Sherlock.

It is stated through culture that in the USA military ass licking sucker ups are near common from Brigadiers onwards. That in this subversively homosexual culture sucking up is the only way to get promoted. That these senior creatures inhabit only two worlds.....to promote militarism to solve ALL America's foreign "problems" or unquestioned obedience to rather poor policies formulated by compromised highly politicized civilians.

Promotion of war to solve especially political problems obviously is not good.

Blind obedience to poor policies involving war, formulated by the Executive for Wall Street, on the other hand is equally bad if not worse.

The colonels piece below, reminds one of all those documentaries about ex-Wehrmacht soldiers and officers doing their confession pieces about how bad Hitler was, and how they loathed carrying out his orders from 1939--45...........many decades after retirement, after the harm had been done.

This is worthless.

But let me inform the good colonel about a few falsities which created the greater falsities of Iraq and Afghanistan. Perhaps his rebellious, questioning, reflective condition will allow him to be more open and receptive to alternative views that circulate out there away from the tightly controlled monopolized Jewish run mass media in the USA.

1. The Taliban was created by the USA in 1994, through the services of the Punjab Pakistan military who subsequently trained it, armed it and directed it with embedded ISI personnel. To this day 2012, the Taliban remains a USA creation directed through the ISI which itself is funded by the USA, as "Controlled Opposition" to the USA occupation of their homeland. The Taliban thus is a carefully managed foil, which is popular to a certain extent in Afghanistan, but lacks the sophisticated weaponry that are available in the international market, but denied to them by the ISI.......they exist as a show, without having the capability to win out right, on their own. We should be able to guess from this .....reading between the lines.....that the Taliban/USA/NATO conflict is an artificially manufactured fight.....though clearly admitted that 2800 Western soldiers have perished as have an estimated 30,000 Taliban fighters.

2. The primary reason the USA is in Afghanistan is for the Afghan opium, whose funds are laundered by Wall Street and "the City" in London. If after one year of extensive tours in Afghanistan, the serving Colonel failed to notice this enterprise, then I must question his objectively. Other Western soldiers in Afghanistan have seen it and reported it, and subsequently written books about it that circulate in the margins (not best sellers). The Opium Plantation in Afghanistan, run by the Pentagon gives us an important explanation/other rational why the USA is in Afghanistan with such obvious conflicting ever changing narratives that don't add up. The $100 billion + annual war in Afghanistan makes a few people rich in the USA, at the expense of the average tax payer, and the overall viability of the USA economy.

Blaming hapless Afghans for failing to measure up to the superior standards of American servicemen simply won't do......its a fourth world country where 90% of the people live in villages, and linked to their particular tribe, not their country. AND is besides the point. The main point is that the USA is in Afghanistan illegally for 10 years harvesting Afghan opium and exporting it around the world.

US colonel: Don't believe US statements on progress in Afghanistan

Lt. Col. Daniel Davis just finished a year in Afghanistan and says don't believe claims of progress.

By Dan Murphy, Staff writer at CS Monitor.

I spent five years covering the Iraq war, and at the end of it I was not inclined to believe anything official spokesmen had to say about Iraq anymore. I heard denials an insurgency was erupting in 2003, watched President Bush's "mission accomplished" moment after Saddam Hussein was captured, and was earnestly told Iraq's insurgency was on its last legs in 2005.

Again and again, the gap between observed reality and official rhetoric was wider than the ocean. I've only taken one reporting trip to Afghanistan, but follow the story from a distance and know many reporters who have lived there for years. Most of them believe, much as the Baghdad press corps did back in the day, that military spokesmen are running an information operation, not a clearing house for facts and honest opinion.

Now a colonel who just finished his tour in Afghanistan is backing that position up, in some of the most candid and critical comments you'll ever read from a serving officer. Many are certain to disagree with Lt. Col. Daniel L. Davis' conclusions in Truth, lies, and Afghanistan. But his argument against continuing the war there is as straight and clear as a tracer bullet, particularly coming from a serving officer.

Davis spent most of last year in Afghanistan working with the Army's Rapid Equipping Force, a job he says took him "into every significant area where our soldiers engage the enemy. Over the course of 12 months, I covered more than 9,000 miles and talked, traveled and patrolled with troops in Kandahar, Kunar, Ghazni, Khost, Paktika, Kunduz, Balkh, Nangarhar and other provinces. What I saw bore no resemblance to rosy official statements by U.S. military leaders about conditions on the ground."

He writes: "I witnessed the absence of success on virtually every level." He also reports low moral among soldiers, doubtful the risks they're taking are doing much good, and incidents of Afghan soldiers trained and equipped by the US working with the Taliban.

The assessment differs sharply with the tone of progress emerging from the top brass. For instance, a press release from the end of January from the US Department of Defense information office begins:

"Almost a month into 2012 -- a year both Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta and Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen, the top commander in Afghanistan, called pivotal to operations there -- International Security Assistance Force officials said last year’s accomplishments have set the stage for continued success."

But Colonel Davis provides a different assessment from those on the ground. He recounts a conversation in September he held with an Afghan official who serves as a cultural adviser to the US commander in Kunar Province. Davis asked him if Afghan security forces would be able to hold out against the Taliban when US troops withdraw from the province.

“No. They are definitely not capable," the adviser told him. "Already all across this region [many elements of] the security forces have made deals with the Taliban. [The ANSF] won’t shoot at the Taliban, and the Taliban won’t shoot them."

Davis also echoes John Kerry's famous question to Congress in 1971 after serving in Vietnam: "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

"How many more men must die in support of a mission that is not succeeding and behind an array of more than seven years of optimistic statements by US senior leaders in Afghanistan? No one expects our leaders to always have a successful plan. But we do expect — and the men who do the living, fighting and dying deserve — to have our leaders tell us the truth about what’s going on."

Colonel Davis, who did a previous combat tour in Afghanistan during 2005-2006 and in Iraq from 2008-2009 was clearly shaken by what he saw this go around. His public statements are unusual in the extreme for a serving officer. In case you missed the link to his piece in the Armed Forces Journal the first time, here it is again.

Sheer spite and total aimlessness.

I suppose the JEWSA government has some logic why dirt poor fourth world people must be sacrificed to protect America's interests in Afghanistan.

The better view is that drone attacks by the JEWSA into Pakistan from Afghanistan, with the aid of the Punjab Pakistan military leads to more recruits and support for the Taliban FROM Pakistan.

For the mafia narco-peddler criminals within the JEWSA, including members of Obama's administration (Operation Fast and Furious) in a twisted way this is good, because then they have an excuse to stay and fight the noble fight for the JEWSA and the world, when the dirt poor farmer picks up the pitch fork and fights back against such injustice (metaphorically: AK-47, RPG's since the ISI has withheld supplying more sophisticated equipment such as lt SAM's.....for 10 years)

Other than the criminals, nobody else gains from drones being used in Pakistan from Afghanistan against innocent people.

To be sure the criminal is twitchy angry, bad tempered, arrogant, racist and psychopathic (has anyone ever met a happy, jolly, courteous, balanced psychopath?).......as he harvests Opium in Afghanistan and ships it to his own country for financial gain. But the best endevours and devious explanations of such criminal scum working with the Punjab Pakistan military must be thwarted through greater public discourse by all humanitarians.

Obama Terror Drones: CIA Tactics in Pakistan Include Targeting Rescuers and Funerals

by Chris Woods and Christina Lamb Courtesy of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. and the Sunday Times, and antiwar.com

The CIA’s drone campaign in Pakistan has killed dozens of civilians who had gone to help rescue victims or were attending funerals, an investigation by the Bureau for the Sunday Times has revealed.

The findings are published just days after President Obama claimed that the drone campaign in Pakistan was a ‘targeted, focused effort’ that ‘has not caused a huge number of civilian casualties.’

Speaking publicly for the first time on the controversial CIA drone strikes, Obama claimed last week they are used strictly to target terrorists, rejecting what he called ‘this perception we’re just sending in a whole bunch of strikes willy-nilly’.

‘Drones have not caused a huge number of civilian casualties’, he told a questioner at an on-line forum. ‘This is a targeted, focused effort at people who are on a list of active terrorists trying to go in and harm Americans’.

But research by the Bureau has found that since Obama took office three years ago, between 282 and 535 civilians have been credibly reported as killed including more than 60 children. A three month investigation including eye witness reports has found evidence that at least 50 civilians were killed in follow-up strikes when they had gone to help victims. More than 20 civilians have also been attacked in deliberate strikes on funerals and mourners. The tactics have been condemned by leading legal experts.

Although the drone attacks were started under the Bush administration in 2004, they have been stepped up enormously under Obama.

There have been 260 attacks by unmanned Predators or Reapers in Pakistan by Obama’s administration – averaging one every four days. Because the attacks are carried out by the CIA, no information is given on the numbers killed.

Administration officials insist that these covert attacks are legal. John Brennan, the president’s top counterterrorism adviser, argues that the US has the right to unilaterally strike terrorists anywhere in the world, not just what he called ‘hot battlefields’.

‘Because we are engaged in an armed conflict with al- Qaeda, the United States takes the legal position that, in accordance with international law, we have the authority to take action against al-Qaeda and its associated forces,’ he told a conference at Harvard Law School last year. ‘The United States does not view our authority to use military force against al-Qaeda as being restricted solely to”hot” battlefields like Afghanistan.’

State-sanctioned extra-judicial executions
But some international law specialists fiercely disagree, arguing that the strikes amount to little more than state-sanctioned extra-judicial executions and questioning how the US government would react if another state such as China or Russia started taking such action against those they declare as enemies.

Related article: A question of legality

The first confirmed attack on rescuers took place in North Waziristan on May 16 2009. According to Mushtaq Yusufzai, a local journalist, Taliban militants had gathered in the village of Khaisor. After praying at the local mosque, they were preparing to cross the nearby border into Afghanistan to launch an attack on US forces. But the US struck first.

A CIA drone fired its missiles into the Taliban group, killing at least a dozen people. Villagers joined surviving Taliban as they tried to retrieve the dead and injured.

But as rescuers clambered through the demolished house the drones struck again. Two missiles slammed into the rubble, killing many more. At least 29 people died in total.

‘We lost very trained and sincere friends‘, a local Taliban commander told The News, a Pakistani newspaper. ‘Some of them were very senior Taliban commanders and had taken part in successful actions in Afghanistan. Bodies of most of them were beyond recognition.’

Related article: Witnesses speak out

For the Americans the attack was a success. A surprise tactic had resulted in the deaths of many Taliban. But locals say that six ordinary villagers also died that day, identified by Bureau field researchers as Sabir, Ikram, Mohib, Zahid, Mashal and Syed Noor (most people in the area use only one name).

Yusufzai, who reported on the attack, says those killed in the follow-up strike ‘were trying to pull out the bodies, to help clear the rubble, and take people to hospital.’ The impact of drone attacks on rescuers has been to scare people off, he says: ‘They’ve learnt that something will happen. No one wants to go close to these damaged building anymore.’

The legal view

Naz Modirzadeh, Associate Director of the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research (HPCR) at Harvard University, said killing people at a rescue site may have no legal justification.

‘Not to mince words here, if it is not in a situation of armed conflict, unless it falls into the very narrow area of imminent threat then it is an extra-judicial execution’, she said. ‘We don’t even need to get to the nuance of who’s who, and are people there for rescue or not. Because each death is illegal. Each death is a murder in that case.’

The Khaisoor incident was not a one-off. Between May 2009 and June 2011, at least fifteen attacks on rescuers were reported by credible news media, including the New York Times, CNN, Associated Press, ABC News and Al Jazeera.

It is notoriously difficult for the media to operate safely in Pakistan’s tribal areas. Both militants and the military routinely threaten journalists. Yet for three months a team of local researchers has been seeking independent confirmation of these strikes.

Eyewiness accounts

The researchers have found credible, independently sourced evidence of civilians killed in ten of the reported attacks on rescuers. In five other reported attacks, the researchers found no evidence of any rescuers – civilians or otherwise – killed.

The researchers were told by villagers that strikes on rescuers began as early as March 2008, although no media carried reports at the time. The Bureau is seeking testimony relating to nine additional incidents.

Often when the US attacks militants in Pakistan, the Taliban seals off the site and retrieves the dead. But an examination of thousands of credible reports relating to CIA drone strikes also shows frequent references to civilian rescuers. Mosques often exhort villagers to come forward and help, for example – particularly following attacks that mistakenly kill civilians.

Other tactics are also raising concerns. On June 23 2009 the CIA killed Khwaz Wali Mehsud, a mid-ranking Pakistan Taliban commander. They planned to use his body as bait to hook a larger fish – Baitullah Mehsud, then the notorious leader of the Pakistan Taliban.

‘A plan was quickly hatched to strike Baitullah Mehsud when he attended the man’s funeral,’ according to Washington Post national security correspondent Joby Warrick, in his recent book The Triple Agent. ‘True, the commander… happened to be very much alive as the plan took shape. But he would not be for long.’

The CIA duly killed Khwaz Wali Mehsud in a drone strike that killed at least five others. Speaking with the Bureau, Pulitzer Prize-winner Warrick confirmed what his US intelligence sources had told him: ‘The initial target was no doubt a target anyway, as it was described to me, as someone that they were interested in. And as they were planning this attack, a possible windfall from that is that it would shake Mehsud himself out of his hiding place.’

Up to 5,000 people attended Khwaz Wali Mehsud’s funeral that afternoon, including not only Taliban fighters but many civilians. US drones struck again, killing up to 83 people. As many as 45 were civilians, among them reportedly ten children and four tribal leaders. Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud escaped unharmed, dying six weeks later along with his wife in a fresh CIA attack.

Clive Stafford-Smith, the lawyer who heads the Anglo-US legal charity Reprieve, believes that such strikes ‘are like attacking the Red Cross on the battlefield. It’s not legitimate to attack anyone who is not a combatant.’

Christof Heyns, a South African law professor who is United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extra- judicial Executions, agrees. ‘Allegations of repeat strikes coming back after half an hour when medical personnel are on the ground are very worrying’, he said. ‘To target civilians would be crimes of war.’ Heyns is calling for an investigation into the Bureau’s findings.

One of the most devastating attacks took place on March 17 last year, the day after Pakistan had released American CIA contractor Raymond Davis, jailed for shooting dead two men in Lahore. Davis had been held for two months and was released after the payment of blood money said to be around $2.3m.

A case of retaliation?

The Agency was said to be furious at the affair. The following day when a massive drone strike killed up to 42 people gathered at a meeting in North Waziristan, Pakistani officials believed it to be retaliation.

The commander of Pakistan forces in the area at the time was Brigadier Abdullah Dogar. He admits that in drone attacks in general ‘people invariably get reported as innocent bystanders’. But in that case he has no doubt. ‘I was sitting there where our friends say they were targeting terrorists and I know they were innocent people’, he said.

Related article: Get the Data: Obama’s terror drones

The mountains in the area contain chromite mines and the ownership was disputed between two tribes, so a Jirga or tribal meeting had been called to resolve the issue.

‘We in the Pakistan military knew about the meeting’, he said, ‘we’d got the request ten days earlier.’

‘It was held in broad daylight, people were sitting out in Nomada bus depot when the missile strikes came. Maybe there were one or two Taliban at that Jirga – they have their people attending – but does that justify a drone strike which kills 42 mostly innocent people?’

‘Drones may make tactical gains but I don’t see how there’s any strategic advantage’, he added. ‘When innocent people die, then you’re creating a whole lot more people with an issue.’

Growing tensions

Drone attacks have long been a source of tension between the US and Pakistan despite the fact that the Pakistan government gave tacit agreement, even allowing them to fly from Shamsi airbase in the western province of Baluchistan, while publicly denouncing the attacks.

In return the US made sure that some of the terrorists killed were those targeting Pakistan.

However the relationship has been stretched to breaking point, first with the raid to kill Osama bin Laden in May and subsequent US accusations of Pakistani complicity, then the NATO bombing of a Pakistani post in November, killing 24 soldiers. In December Pakistan ordered the CIA to vacate the Shamsi base. For a while drone attacks stopped but they resumed two weeks ago.

The US claims the drones are a vital tool that have helped them almost wipe out the leadership of al Qaeda in Pakistan. But others point out they have stoked enormous anti-American sentiment in a country with an arsenal of 200 nuclear weapons.

Peter Singer, director of the 21st Century Initiative at the Brookings Institution, points out the operation has never been debated in Congress which has to approve sending US forces to war.

So dramatic is the switch to unmanned war that he says the US now has 7,000 drones operating and 12,000 more on the ground, while not a single new manned combat aircraft is under research or development at any western aerospace company.

After a remarkable lack of debate, there is starting to be unease in the US at the lack of transparency and accountability in the use of drones particularly as the campaign has expanded to hit targets in Libya, Yemen and Somalia and until recently to patrol the skies in Iraq.

Three US citizens were killed by missiles fired from drones in Yemen last September. Anwar al Awlaqi, an alleged al Qaeda operative, was deliberately targeted in what some have described as the US government’s first ever execution of one of its own citizens without trial. His colleague and fellow citizen Samir Khan also died in the attack. Two weeks later Awlaqi’s 16 year old son Abdulrahman died in a strike on alleged al Qaeda militants.

Such unmanned war is a politician’s dream, avoiding the inconvenience of sending someone’s son or daughter, mother or father, into harm’s way.

The fact that the operations are carried out by the CIA rather than the US military enables the administration to evade questions. The Agency press office responds to media inquiries on the subject with no comment and refusal to give names of those killed or who are on the target list.

Until Obama’s comments last week, the White House would not even confirm the programme existed.

‘We don’t discuss classified programs or comment on alleged strikes’, said a senior administration official in response to the findings presented by the Sunday Times.

Lawsuit

The ACLU filed a lawsuit last week demanding the Obama administration release legal and intelligence records on the killing of the three US citizens in in Yemen.

Privately some senior US military officers say they are extremely uncomfortable at the way the administration is carrying out these operations using the CIA which is not covered by laws of war or the Geneva Convention.

The use of drones outside a declared war zone is seen by many legal experts as setting a dangerous precedent. Aside from allies such as Israel, Britain and France, other countries have drone technology including China, Russia and Pakistan. Iran recently captured a downed US drone.

Heyns, the UN rapporteur, said an international legal framework is urgently needed to govern their use.

‘Our concern is how far does it go – will the whole world be a theatre of war?’ he asked. ‘Drones in principle allow collateral damage to be minimised but because they can be used without danger to a country’s own troops they tend to be used more widely. One doesn’t want to use the term ticking bomb but it’s extremely seductive.’

Less than One-Fifth of All Americans Favor Military or Covert Action Against Iran

By Zero Hedge at Infowars.com

From Washington’s Blog.

Preface: Roubini says that attacking Iran would lead to global recession. The IMF says that Iran cutting off oil supplies could raise crude prices 30%. War with Iran would kill the American economy. and see this and this).

So yes, this is a newsworthy economic and financial story.

THE AMERICAN AND ISRAELI BEAT THE WAR DRUMS … BUT THE PEOPLE WANT PEACE

The American and Israeli Beat the War Drums … But the People Want Peace

While the same neoconservatives who pushed the Iraq war are now loudly beating the drums of war against Iran, neither the American or Israeli people want war.

A new United Technologies/National Journal “Congressional Connection Poll,” finds that only 13% Americans think the U.S. should “take covert action against Iran such as sabotage and assassination of scientists working on their nuclear program”.

Only 17% support “tak[ing] military action against Iran, including bombing weapons facilities inside the country.”

And most Israelis are against war with Iran as well.

As University of Maryland professor of government, and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, Shibley Telhami and director of the Program on International Policy Attitudes, Steven Kull, note in the New York Times:

Despite all the talk of an “existential threat,” less than half of Israelis support a strike on Iran. According to our November poll (.pdf), carried out in cooperation with the Dahaf Institute in Israel, only 43 percent of Israeli Jews support a military strike on Iran — even though 90 percent of them think that Iran will eventually acquire nuclear weapons.

Most important, when asked whether it would be better for both Israel and Iran to have the bomb, or for neither to have it, 65 percent of Israeli Jews said neither. And a remarkable 64 percent favored the idea of a nuclear-free zone, even when it was explained that this would mean Israel giving up its nuclear weapons.

The Israeli public also seems willing to move away from a secretive nuclear policy toward greater openness about Israel’s nuclear facilities. Sixty percent of respondents favored “a system of full international inspections” of all nuclear facilities, including Israel’s and Iran’s, as a step toward regional disarmament.

Given that the elites who profit from war will do their best to try to pretend we must attack Iran to protect ourselves, we must all be wary of a false flag attack against Iran. Indeed, it almost seems as if some have already hinted in that direction.

Why of course the people don’t want war … But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship … Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

- Nazi leader Hermann Goering

China intensifies criticism of sanctions on Iran

By Reuters and information clearing House. (Reporting by Sui-Lee Wee; Editing by Ken Wills)

A top Chinese newspaper stepped up Beijing's opposition to a Western push for tighter sanctions against Iran, warning on Friday that tensions over Tehran's nuclear programme are hurting energy markets and could stifle the global economic recovery.

China's criticism of tighter sanctions on Iran, designed to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons, appeared in the People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the ruling Communist Party.

It comes a day after German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged Beijing to use its influence to persuade Iran to give up its nuclear weapons program.

"The global economy is in the midst of a difficult economic recovery and reducing the shocks of uncertainties is the common responsibility of countries all over the world," the People's Daily commentary said.

"In the near term, the sudden spike in tensions between the United States and Iran is now posing the greatest uncertainty. This factor is disrupting global energy markets and has cast a shadow over the global economic recovery."

The commentary appeared under the pen-name of "Zhong Sheng", which in Chinese sounds like "Voice of the Centre" or "Voice of China", suggesting it reflects high-level government views.

China, the world's second-largest crude consumer, has long opposed unilateral sanctions that target Iran's energy sector and has tried to reduce tensions that could threaten its oil supply.

The energy tensions are a particular worry for China, the biggest buyer of Iranian oil. Only Saudi Arabia and Angola sell more crude to China than Iran.

Escalating tensions between Iran and the West over Tehran's disputed nuclear program -- which have led to Iranian threats to close the vital Straits of Hormuz Gulf oil export route -- have pushed up Brent crude prices by about 9 percent since mid-December.

On Thursday, at a joint media briefing after what Germany's Merkel described as "long discussions" about Iran, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao appeared to reject the pressure to do more.

He said Beijing objected to Western nations politicizing the "normal commercial relationship" it has with the Islamic Republic (of Iran), echoing language that China has used before.

Merkel, who is in China on a three-day visit, said on Thursday she hoped the U.N. Security Council could pass a unanimous resolution on the Iran issue.

The United States imposed the harshest sanctions on Iran when President Barack Obama signed into law sanctions on transactions involving Iran's central bank on Dec. 31.

The European Union imposed a ban on the import, purchase or transport of Iranian oil in January.

The commentary reiterated China's stance that dialogue should be used to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.

China has backed U.N. Security Council resolutions calling on Iran to halt uranium enrichment activities, while working to ensure its energy ties are not threatened.

Israel may attack Iran this spring.

.
.
.
.
In which can case fighting Somali Pirates is not relevant for Iran.

Sending the great Iranian fleet to the Red Sea will be irrelevant.

Sending the mighty Persian fleet to the Atlantic will be irrelevant.

Blocking the Straits of Hormuz, and punishing the International community for an Israeli crime, will be a big mistake, and will allow the USA and NATO to enter on the side of Israel, after the Israeli baiting action against Iran.

Iran must choose her options carefully, and think of what would be the most proper MEASURED response to an Israeli aerial attack. No thoughtless action must be taken against any Third Parties, for any Israeli attack.

As stated before since 2005, Iran needs to massively boost her air-defense systems, and lease equipment from Russia and China. AA, and SAMs. Iran needs to increase the size and capability of the airforce with indigenous production of new jet fighters. Airforce 100,000 and air-defense 150,000.........personnel.

The Artesh mobilized to 700,000 and the Pasdaran to 300,000 by March 2012, and kept at that level for several years. The Artesh moved out of their military bases, save for flags waving and spread out around the country....ready to defend Iran ONLY.

The Pasdaran moved out of their military bases, save for flags waving and spread out around the country, ready to be used in offensive operations in Lebanon, and else where against Israel.

The Great Persian navy can stay near the Iranian coast and avoid any false flag operations and confrontations with the USA and NATO. They should not waste their time fighting Somali pirates.

The mobilization of the Baseej will not be required.
They should stay with their mothers.

From where does the Ariel attack come?

From Israel, over Iraq?

From Saudi Arabia, where Israeli planes have been sighted in some bases (F-15I)

From NATO Turkey?

From Georgia, which has very close security links with Israel?

From Azerbaijan, which has developed very close security links with Israel?

From Turkmenistan?

Who can say?

Certainly defense expenditure must be boosted to 15% of GDP. North Korea spends 26% of its GDP on defense and has a standing military machine of 1,200,000.......That is why despite being within the "Axis of Evil" club, and an open nuclear bomb program boasted to the world loudly....... the USA does not attack the country.

The donkey mullahs must persuade themselves to steal less money from the state petro-$ coffers, and spend more money on defense of the homeland. For it is unimaginable what angry Iranians will do to the MULLAHS, at the behest of the USA, if the country is conquered.......

What they will do to Ahmedinejad (Though I hear he has agreed on escape plans to Venezuela via Doenme Turkey as with many top Nazis to South America)....to Khamenei and the rest of the donkey dogs in Iranian security who relay messages and direction and instructions from the British and Western embassies.

Panetta Believes Israel Will Attack Iran In April, May or June

By David Ignatius at the Washington Post

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has a lot on his mind these days, from cutting the defense budget to managing the drawdown of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. But his biggest worry is the growing possibility that Israel will attack Iran over the next few months.

Panetta believes there is a strong likelihood that Israel will strike Iran in April, May or June — before Iran enters what Israelis described as a “zone of immunity” to commence building a nuclear bomb. Very soon, the Israelis fear, the Iranians will have stored enough enriched uranium in deep underground facilities to make a weapon — and only the United States could then stop them militarily.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu doesn’t want to leave the fate of Israel dependent on American action, which would be triggered by intelligence that Iran is building a bomb, which it hasn’t done yet.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak may have signaled the prospect of an Israeli attack soon when he asked last month to postpone a planned U.S.-Israel military exercise that would culminate in a live-fire phase in May. Barak apologized that Israel couldn’t devote the resources to the annual exercise this spring.

Syria needs to seal its borders first as priority number one, not deal with the "al-CIA-duh"problem once they come into the country.

.
.
.
.
No doubt the Syrian regime in Damascus feel secure with more arms purchases from Russia.

When the JEWSA gifted Hafiz Assad's regime $2 billion for fighting Saddam Hussein, on the side of the JEWSA in 1991, the regime spent ALL the money on arms purchases from Russia, subsequently, and sent a brigade to Saudi Arabia to stand side by side with the JEWSA, against Ba'athist Saddam Iraq.

But the regime must be wise, and must not believe totally that ONLY modern jet fighters, tanks and warships can defeat the AK-47 armed terrorist subversive "al-CIA-duh" groups operating at the behest of the JEWSA, Israel and NATO.

Other strategies are more relevant and important:

(i) The "al-CIA-duh" Terrorists must be met and stopped at the border. The Turkish/Syrian border; The Lebanon/Syrian border; The Iraq/Syrian border......where all borders must be totally sealed. Billions of $ must be spent on border security, and the advise and help of Russia, Iran.

(ii) Greater focus must be placed on counter terrorism, which in addition requires heavy training with Iran's Revolutionary Guard and of course Russia......but not necessarily more heavy military equipment.

(iii) Requesting Russia and Iran to place more of their security personnel in Syria, working with the Syrian security services.

The Arab Leagues advice about Bashar Assad handing over power to his Deputy is utter nonsense, and will be a disaster, since such advice and such an action will give defacto victory to "al-CIA-duh" in Syria.......they will merely fight harder against the regime.

Mullah Iran's sporadic meaningless advice to the Assad regime, requiring Assad to be more open and giving greater concessions to the terrorists is again nonsense. Nothing of constructive value comes from mullah Iran.

When a nation such as Syria is under attack by the JEWSA, NATO and Israel using Doenme NATO Turkey, and "al-CIA-duh" PROXIES...............the Syrian State should close itself up, expel ALL Westerners, close some of the Western embassies/consulates, expel ALL NGO's, and impose a curfew........not unlike the JEWSA has done to itself since 2001.....with its unofficial security budget of $1500 billion (Chalmers Johnson)

Mullah Iran is a puppet regime brought into power by the International Jews using the State institutions of the USA/UK..............that is why often the mullah seems to talk through their backsides.

Example 1: Ahmedinejad many visits to South America....meaningless..... unless he is fulfilling a mission for the CIA, and the "Iranian in Mexico maid servant wank."

Example 2: The Young Turks were brought into power by the International Jews in 1908 and 1913. Most of the leaders of the Young Turks were Doenme secret Jews (Like Ahmedinejad).....and they entered Turkey into an unnecessary war, and destroyed the Ottoman empire, which killed 2--4 million Ottoman citizens through war, massacres and starvation. What did Enver Pasha do at the very end of war in 1918?.......He led 200,000 troops of the best quality into a meaningless campaign in the Caucasus and then into Central Asia where he died in 1922 (Nothing to do with the defense of the Turkish homeland, which after 1918 was invaded by France, UK, Italy, Armenians and Greece subsequently)

The same with Doenme secret Jew Erdogan. How does modern secular Turkey benefit from promoting "al-CIA-duh" in Libya, Tunisia, Egypt and SYRIA.........using destabilization terrorists.

Example 3: The Third Reich was a International Jewish scheme from beginning to end. We see the same patterns of MEANINGLESS CRAZY military/diplomatic campaigns by Nazi Germany (1933--45), subsequently explained as Hitlers naive mistakes, and his lack of understanding of the BASICS of the battlefield as a former corporal.

Example 4: (I am with Persia, but not mullah Iran)........And so with mullah Iran which currently still spends only 3% of GDP on defense. Where they talk about sending naval expeditions to fight Somali pirates, naval expeditions to the Red sea and even the Atlantic, or closing the Straits of Hormuz.

The donkey mullah cannot protect citizens in Tehran, but they feel their "international duty" to fight Somali pirates.

We understand PRECISELY which "International duty" the mullah serves, but certainly not Iran.

Closing the Straits of Hormuz if ever achieved will push the price of oil to maybe $200--300 a barrel. Oil is still traded in $....and therefore this will benefit the USA currency.

Also this will allow the JEWSA to create an international naval coalition to fight Iran alone.

It CURRENTLY allows and justify's the JEWSA to mass 100,000's of troops and other military assets opposite or near the Straits of Hormuz.

Which master does the donkey mullah serve?

PRECISELY which "International duty" does the mullah serve?

As to Syria, the correct pure advice has been submitted freely from the fakir.

Russia will not stop selling arms sales to Syria

By ELIZABETH A. KENNEDY, Associated Press via antiwar.com

Russia said Thursday it will keep selling arms to longtime ally Syria, despite mounting international condemnation over the Syrian regime's bloody crackdown on a 10-month-old uprising.

Russia's Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said his country is not violating any international obligations by selling weapons to Damascus.

"As of today there are no restrictions on our delivery of weapons," he told journalists in Russia, according to the country's state news agencies. "We must fulfill our obligations and this is what we are doing."

Moscow has been one of Syria's most powerful allies — along with Iran — as regime forces try to crush the revolt against President Bashar Assad. The U.N. estimates that more than 5,400 people have been killed in the government crackdown.

Moscow's stance is motivated in part by its strategic and defense ties, including weapons sales, with Syria. But Russia also rejects what it sees as a world order dominated by the U.S. Last month, Russia reportedly signed a $550 million deal to sell combat jets to Syria.

U.N. ambassadors this week are trying to overcome Russia's opposition to a draft resolution at the Security Council aimed at stopping the bloodshed. Moscow said it would veto the original version because it believes it would open the way for eventual international military action.

The latest draft, obtained Thursday by The Associated Press, still expresses support for an Arab League peace plan for Syria that calls for Assad to delegate his authority to his deputy.

In an apparent effort to overcome Russian objections, the new version no longer includes the explicit reference to the president delegating his powers. It also removes the calls for a new national unity government, and for transparent, free elections.

Wiam Wahhab, a pro-Syrian Lebanese politician, met Tuesday with Assad in Damascus.

"I found him relaxed and sure. He is confident in the Russian position," Wahhab told the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar in an interview published Thursday.

Also Thursday, Syrian security forces fanned out in Hama as protesters splashed red paint symbolizing blood in the streets to mark the 30th anniversary of a notorious massacre carried out by Hafez Assad, Bashar's father and predecessor.

The Hama massacre of 1982, which leveled entire neighborhoods and killed thousands of people, has become a rallying cry for the Syrian uprising that began nearly 11 months ago in the hopes of ending four decades of the Assad family rule.

Hundreds of troops and security forces were in Hama on Thursday, closing off public squares and setting up checkpoints.

"There is a checkpoint every 100 meters," said Ahmed Jimejmi, a Hama resident.

Activists painted two streets in Hama red to symbolize blood, and threw red dye in the waters of Hama's famous and ancient water wheels.

Graffiti on the walls read: "Hafez died, and Hama didn't. Bashar will die, and Hama won't."

Hafez Assad ordered the scorched-earth assault on Hama 30 years ago to put down an uprising against his rule. Amnesty International has claimed that 10,000-25,000 people were killed, though conflicting figures exist and the Syrian government has never made an official estimate.

For the next two decades, until his death, Hafez Assad ruled uncontested, and the massacre was seared into the minds of Syrians.

Frumpy grandma on a Jew mission

.
.
.
.
There is nothing wrong in having crypto-Jews running your country, they might even be useful and subsequently promise the earth with their links to International Jewish Capital (Nazi Germany 1933--45 the initial economic miracles, grandiose dreams and promises, before the onset of the WWII Abyss and Apocalypse.....Jew bait and switch on a grand scale)

So frumpy grandma Merkel is off to China to lecture them on who SHE thinks China should do trade with.

This is after her government has gifted little Israel with 4 advanced submarines for free. These submarines are now stationed off Iran threatening and inciting the secret Jewish run government in Mullah Iran.

This is the problem with crypto-Jews; they serve Israel first before thinking of their country of which they have been elected, and paid to serve, by the people for the people.

(i) Germany gains NOTHING by persuading China to stop buying Iranian oil directly.
(ii) Germany gains NOTHING by pushing Iran into a corner where she lashes out Japan style in 1941.
(iii) An ill-defined greater war which engulfs anybody and everybody does not serve Germany's interests, as Germany is the second biggest trading nation in the world which requires STABLE OPEN markets for free flow of its goods and services around the world. The German economy more than all other EU economies is geared towards exports. Israel exists on handouts.
(iv) There are major structural problems in the EU, which Germany would be well advised to focus on first, before embarking on state canvassing missions for Likud extremist Apartheid Israel.
(v) Likud governments with their extremist policies are not good for Israel, and thus their policies should not be encouraged ...........a total oil ban against Iran is desired by the Likud.
(vi) Germany given its Zionist designed past disasters in WWI and WWII should be a supporter of peace not confrontation between nations.
(vii) Germany under Helmut Schmidt was involved in the toppling of the last Shah......it wasn't just the USA/UK. ....which brought into power the mullahs.
(viii) The "Grand Chessboard" 1998 written by premier strategist in Washington Zbignew Brzezinski, and the policy paper "Project for a new American Century" 2000 requires for containment and ultimate confrontation with CHINA, and RUSSIA for the Eurasia mineral resources..........the defeat of Iran militarily for some Zionists is a path towards that ultimate dream later. Though these obvious conclusions aren't spelt out but can be reasonably gauged. One assumes the relevant people in these countries have been reading such articles. .......and have access to maps which observe American security activity and build up.

What is embarrassing and shameful is that frumpy grandma Merkel has to exhibit her Zionism so openly, and so clumsily for the call of the tribe (She is going to fail after all). Most Germans are against any military attacks on Iran. But it is observed as with the previous post, and failed state Punjab Pakistan, governments aren't often responsive to the wishes of the ordinary people.

The report below by Presstv.com is unverified.......but it offered a great opportunity to criticize grandma Merkel anyways.

Merkel to sway China against Iran

"To blindly pressure and impose sanctions on Iran are not constructive approaches."

Chinese Foreign Ministry

Despite Beijing's outright refusal to join the EU and US-sponsored unilateral sanctions on Iran's oil industry, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has arranged a visit to China to convince the country to reduce Iranian oil import.

A German government source told a news briefing on Tuesday that "It is in German interests that China does not raise its imports [from Iran]. It would be good if China would reduce its imports."

According to the source, Merkel will begin her trip to China on Wednesday.

This comes while China has criticized the European Union's new unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic, considering them as blind pressure and unconstructive.

“To blindly pressure and impose sanctions on Iran are not constructive approaches," the Chinese foreign ministry said on January 26 in reaction to the measures adopted by the EU over Iran's nuclear program.

US President Barack Obama signed into law new sanctions against Iran which seek to penalize other countries for importing Iran's oil or doing transactions with the country's central bank. The European Union also approved new sanctions against Iran's oil and financial sectors on January 23, which will cut off crude oil imports from Iran on July 1.

The United States, Israel and their European allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program and have used this pretext to impose four rounds of international and a series of unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Iran has refuted the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Tehran is entitled to use nuclear technology for peaceful use.(Iran unlike Israel has allowed very intrusive, go anywhere, see everything, zero notice inspections in Iran for the last 9 years by the USA created IAEA.........no other nation has been that open)

The hypocracy of the Pakistan government.

.
.
.
.
Drone attacks in FATA are carried out in cooperation with the Pakistan Punjab military. The USA cannot carry out drone strikes unless the Pakistan Punjab military cooperatives by providing coordinates and ground support.

The PPP government know this fact, and Zardari is said to be in favor of these attacks privately.

The only people that are against these attacks are the majority of the Pakistani people, the Insaf Party and the PML (N) party.

Zardari came to power, after the ISI murdered his wife in December 2007, probably for the USA. It was a classic ISI execution (ditto Laikat Ali Khan)....filled with symbolism for masterji.

The USA likes Zardari because he is a super-crook, as is Karzai in Afghanistan running a defacto narco state. The USA, and especially the State Department and CIA feel they can get greater "leverage" in a country, using super-crooks, who can even sell their mothers for a price. We must not be fooled by the often urbane, plummy accented, slithering creatures who work in such organizations. Zardari has about $4 billion stashed away in Jew bank Swiss accounts, and Zardari wants to stay in power for ever with USA backing ("memogate").

But 90% of Pakistanis loathe him OBVIOUSLY. How do you fine dress and present shit? Zardari is therefore out of sight, and his Zamindar deputy speaks for him in the MSM.

Naturally patriotic Pakistanis who aren't into "strategic depth" are against drone strikes, but as yet this national popular sentiment has not been seriously channeled to remove the puppet government in Islamabad, which thereafter results in a people responsive policy over American drones and much else.

For the country to be successful, Pakistanis must step forward and fight for the country, and not as Punjabis, Pashtuns, Baluchis Sindhis or Moharjis.....but as Pakistanis. This requires considerable courage.

Pakistan Condemns Drone Strikes as “Unlawful”

Renewed scrutiny has been placed on the drone war in Pakistan since Obama publicly admitted to it for the first time

by John Glaser, at antiwar.com

Islamabad issued another condemnation on Monday of Washington’s drone war in northwest Pakistan, branding it “unlawful, counterproductive and unacceptable,” after President Obama for the first time publicly acknowledged the classified program.

Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said: “Our position on drone strikes is clear and based on principle. We cannot condone the violation of our sovereignty.”

Obama acknowledged the extrajudicial execution campaign in an interview that streamed live on YouTube. “I want to make sure people understand actually drones have not caused a huge number of civilian casualties,” he said. “For the most part, they’ve been very precise, precision strikes against against al-Qaeda and their affiliates.”

But investigative reports tell a very different story, namely that a large portion of the thousands of people killed in drone strikes since 2004 have been civilians. Furthermore, those militants that have been killed are mostly low-level insurgent operatives that are only known as such because the government (USA/Pakistani) said so.

(The Pakistan Punjab military under MOSSAD Busharaf handed over wholly innocent people mostly....700 for Guantanamo from 2001, vast majority have since been released by the USA. If the USA is well aware that Pakistani ground information about "terrorists" is suspect...why then does the USA launch highly inaccurate drone attacks which cause so much collateral damage....and ensure more recruits for the Taliban?)

Pakistani officials have been known to assist the CIA in carrying out drone strikes in the past, so Islamabad’s condemnation cannot be considered totally genuine. But the Pakistani people have been outraged by such constant attacks and have protested in the hundreds of thousands.
